EZ-EG guitar in GargeBand '09 not working

I've been using my inexpensive but effective Yamaha EZ-EG midi guitar to lay down tracks in GB '08 and I was looking forward to using my EZ with the new guitar amp sounds in GB '09 but I can't get any sound to get pumped through GB '09 when using the amp settings.

I have tried all combinations of pref settings in connection to the midi in/out and system settings for inputs but to no success.

GB recognizes a midi input and when I strum my EZ-EG guitar while in the amp settings, the small window at the bottom of the screen that has the measures and tuning choices shows a detection of signal by flashing a small blue light in the lower right hand corner but no sound.

My midi guitar easily plays in software track mode so I know it's working but I really wanted to be able to use this guitar with all the new amp sounds.

Is there something I can do with my EZ-EG to still work with the amp sounds? I've searched for new midi drivers for the EZ but haven't found any.
