Question

camera shutter stuck on iPhone3G

Hi all,

After updating to OS 3.0, camera app is stuck. Shutter doesn't open.

Even after restoring/resetting completely.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Many people have reported this as being a "glitch" in the 3.0 software. Hopefully, Apple has acknowledge this and fix it on their next update.

I was getting frustrated with it.

Hopefully the next upgrade tomorrow sorts this out.

I'll just add in that I have this problem too. I was worried when I found my 3G/3.0 camera shutter to be stuck but now it appears to be common! So here's hoping for a software fix.

I have the same problem. If I turn the phone completely off and back on it seems to work again. But it has happened repeatedly.

Kind of reminds me of using windows!

I tried a "restore as new phone" but this has not helped; alas my camera shutter is still stuck closed. I bought my iPhone (3G) second hand with no proof of purchase - presumably an apple genius can't help me? Maybe, sadly, I just have to accept that my problem is with my actual hardware that no update can fix...

Try deleting
1: Videos in the Camera Roll
2: Computer-uploaded albums
---
3: Hold Power and Home until the iPhone resets.

Hmmm. I tried doing all this as well. I have a 3Gs. So I called Apple and they are sending me a new phone, but now that I know this is pretty widespread then I'm not so sure a new phone is going to fix it...dang

I'm having the same problem. I can use the camera once, but if I try to open the camera again, the shutter stays closed. The same thing happens when I view photos. I can open the album on my phone once, but not twice. The SAME THING happened just now when I tried to check the photo/camera settings. I opened Settings once, but not twice. AND, any photos I took with my old first gen iPhone are very low quality... sometimes. Not all the time. This is getting out of hand.

Same problem here,

Mine worked for abit after 3.0 but it gave up one day.

No matter what I try, it hasn't fixed the issues.

Come on Apple, sort it out!
