Wrong icons

All the applications have wrong icons. All the downloaded apps, I should say.
For instance, iBeer has Apple Remote's icon. Any fix?

As said above, this has been widely reported. Doing a search should find the threads. But many of us have not seen this happen; I have 8 or so pages of apps and all seem to have the correct icons (of course, I don't use each one every day so ...).

iBeer? I've not seen that app. If you use it too much does it affect your vision and judgment? 😉

iBeer: What a crack!

Has anyone found a permanent solution?

I've tried the suggestion above as well as deleting, syncing with offending apps UNCHECKED, then re-syncing with same apps checked. Both options fix the issue, but as soon as a new app is downloaded, not only does the new app get the wrong icon, but the same apps which I previously fixed mix up again also!

Not a huge deal, because I can fix them again by following on of the above procedures...EXCEPT for the fact that one of the apps is Awesome Notes (A notepad/to do list app) and when I delete it, all of the info goes with it. So I'm either stuck with the wrong app icon, or I have to re-enter all of the info every time I download a new app.

I sent feedback to Apple and hopefully everyone else has as well, so maybe a future update will have a bug-fix.

But if anyone has done anything that fixes it and KEEPS if fixed through new app downloads, I'd appreciate knowing the secret!! (FYI...I downloaded the new apps through iTunes on my computer instead of iPhone thinking that would help, but it did not. Still switched icons)

As a matter of fact, it does NOT work. Well, I should say, that I can delete the one, pause the download, restart phone, all of that crap, and the icon still loads wrong.

Today, since I'm off, I deleted all offending apps. Synced to the computer. Checked the offending apps to reload. Apps loaded fine! Ejected iPhone, restarted iPhone as recommended after app downloading and guess what? All of the apps are messed up again.

I use 3 apps in particular called MyEyesOnly, BillMinder and AwesomeNotes which combined, took me HOURS to input info. I can see my only option left is a complete restore. That really irritates me. I've had all 3 iPhones at this point and never had a single solitary issue until last week. I got the 3GS on release day and it just started acting up last week? What happened? Why is it only some phones and not others?

I'm going to do a restore. If after that it doesn't fix it, I'm going to the Apple store and telling them where to shove their defective iPhone. If others have this issue, what's to say a new iPhone won't also?

Well, I have WONDERFUL news! (do you sense the sarcasm?) I attempted a restore. Now my phone is basically a brick. The only thing that will show on the screen is a picture of the iTunes icon, with the USB cord, telling me to connect to iTunes. When I do, it tells me I need to restore my iPhone. I click restore and get error 1604 "Unknown Error". I've attempted it 4 times now and nothing. Looks like I'm going to the Genius Bar.

Restore it, then.

You'll be amazed at the amount of settings and info will come back IF you had a good back up! the apps might not even be in it after restoring but the info remains in the backup.
My 3gs inherited ALL my info from old 3g.
And I have lots and lots of apps.
You can also call Apple( 1800 my iphone) or Apple store in your area. They'll take care of you.

I HAD attempted a restore! It, in effect, bricked my iPhone! It's stuck on the "connect to itunes" screen and iTunes won't recognize it. I called Apple on the phone and they couldn't do anything either. I asked if I could just make an appointment at the Genius Bar since the phone wasn't even 30 days old and was told NO, that they would mail me an empty box to return it for repairs. The more I thought about that, the angrier I got! I mean, it's not even a month old and they expected me to send it back for repairs? So I got the box today and called them back and talked to someone else. I explained the situation and he couldn't understand why they mailed me the empty box instead of letting me to to the Apple Store. He cancelled the repair order and made me an appointment instead. So I can take it back tomorrow. Hopefully it all works out. I NEVER get upset about anything, but I was FUMING yesterday! That's why I had a couple snarky posts....I apologize!

Apple had me log onto my computer as an administrator. Under that profile, I had to download iTunes and update to 8.2.1 or whatever the new one is. From that point I again had to attempt a restore, however iTunes did not recognize my iPhone at all. It made the tone when I plugged it into the USB, but the device did not show up. She had me try all of my USBs and restart my computer, however that did nothing.

Thanks for the suggestions though. Maybe they will help someone else!

Ok. Here's my update! I went to my Genius Bar appointment. He said that he had never heard of the app icons being messed up. (That's what the CSR on the phone told me also) I told him (as well as her) to get on the Discussion Group on Apple.com and they'd see that it's a problem.

Anyway, he said that they can do some kind of override and he hooked my iPhone to his computer, fiddled with a second laptop that was hooked to the same computer that my iPhone was connected to, and after a few minutes, it began restoring! It was awesome.

Something of interest....he told me that they are having a lot of trouble with the 3GS and the restore process. He said that if you have to do a restore, it's better to restart as a new iPhone in stead of from backup because a lot of them are getting stuck in the same place mine had. So when I brought it home to sync with my iTunes for the first time since he did the restore, when it asked "new iPhone" or "restore from backup" I chose restore. So far....so good!
