Wrong icons

Ok. So if you read my last post, you'll see that I had to attempt a restore because nothing fixed the mixed up icons. The attempt to restore, killed my iPhone. Went to the Genius Bar and he supposedly fixed it. All was fine. For 4 days. Today, I added a new app. Downloaded and added via iTunes. Restarted my iPhone after downloading, as recommended. Everything was ok till I attempted a sync. Now my icons are messed up again. What the heck is going on and how do we fix it permanently?

No problem, Phil! I decided I'm not downloading any more apps until a bug fix is announced. Apple told me the only way to fix the messed up icons that they can think of (cause they never heard of the problem before) is a restore. But like I said above, a restore totally effed up my phone and I'm not going through THAT again! The closest Apple store to me is 70 miles away and it's closed for remodeling so I had to go the next closest which is 100 miles away! I don't want to do that again any time soon!

I have the same problem with the 3G, and I have not tried any of the "solutions."

One question I did not see in the forums so far - besides being annoying, do the incorrect icons affect the operation of the phone at all?

Nope, the apps still work as they should, they just have the wrong icon. I read on Twitter today a post from the LA Times claiming Apple is releasing 3.1 for the iPhone in SEPTEMBER. That really bites. At least 5 weeks until I can download any more apps. I was hoping it'd be much sooner.

i had this problem too with about 5 apps - i just downloaded 3.0.1 and it seemed to fix the problem - now all my icons are correct - i didnt have to delete anything or reload them from iTunes - just install the 3.01. update

i had this problem of wrong ions for 5 or apps - when i installed 3.0.1 it fixed all of them - didnt have to delete and redownload any apps - just the 3.01 install seemed to clear everything up with the wrong icons

Problem was fixed with 3.0.1, but came back when I added a new app. So I went with the hypothesis that it was the restore that fixed, it, not 3.0.1. I did a restore yesterday and confirmed the hypothesis. So a restore will fix the problem until you add another app.

yes you just have to Re-Download the apps then Restart your iPhone.

then you should check the apps and see if they are normal. thats what i did

Tried that myself.
* Redownloaded apps via mac
* Uninstalled apps from iPhone
* Reinstall apps
* Shut iphone down
* Restarted

10 applications have altered icons

This worked for me. Thanks. After I turned the phone on again the icon was gray and partially loaded. I tapped to continue the load and all where fixed.
