how do i translate my old pc adobe product short films saves as iso files to my new mac book pro avi files?
also
can i copy a personal made film in dvd format and after using mpeg stream clip and vob file to make an avi file, how do i retrieve my soundtrack?
Double click the ISO. It should mount in the Finder as a removable drive.
Drag the contents to the new location.
As a Final Cut Pro owner QuickTime Player can already handle your .avi files. Note that QuickTime movies are the preferred format on the Mac.
Nick
thank you. however, i do not understand.
when i double click the iso
i get two files
one is open dvd which is empty
the other file is video_ts
which contains many items
and where shall i drag the contents to? what is new location?
i have tried to drag the video ts file but it will not go.
how do i make a avi from it?
thank you.
Drag the entire VIDEO_TS folder to where ever you want it -for example your Desktop or Movies folder, up to you.
Did you read my tutorial? It explains exactly how to make stand alone files from the DVD.
Instead of choosing Export to QuickTime, you would choose Export to AVI from MPEG Streamclip's
File menu.
and also when i open final cut
and import the files inside video ts
the only one that will import is a vob file
which is just the video
no sound
none of the others import
such as the
ts.ifo;ts.bup;01
0.ifo;010bup.
?
is it this? and what if i cannot but the extra product now? can i do without it?
you will need MPEG Streamclip (which is free), and the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 PLayback Component ($20). After installing both of these, do the following:
Insert your DVD. If you Mac automatically starts up the DVD Player, you can quit DVD Player.
Look for the icon of your DVD on your desktop and double click to open a finder window. Navigate to the Video_TS folder.
Open MPEG Streamclip.
Drag the .VOB files from the Video_TS Folder into MPEG Streamclip and drop them. If MPEG Streamclip offers to fix timecode breaks, say YES.
Now you can preview the file in MPEG Streamclip by pressing the spacebar to play.
You can export the footage into a format that is editable by iMovie by clicking File/Export Using QuickTime and picking the Apple Intermediate Codec. You may also want to deinterlace in this step. (Do a test on a short clip and see if the deinterlaced version looks better). MPEG Streamclip will prompt you to provide a file name and location.
Open iMovie and click File/Import from file. Navigate to the ,mov file that you just created and import it into iMovie.
Note: If your DVD contains footage from multiple events that you would like to separate, you can easily do that. After dragging the VOB files into MPEG Streamclip, you can use the I key (capital i) to set the IN point and the O (capital O) key to set the Out Point. then File/Export this portion and give it a name. Repeat this until you have converted all the Events.
If you have Final Cut Pro, you already have the MPEG 2 Playback component.
The only reason that it would not function is that you are using a version of FCP prior to version 5.1.0, which is not compatible with an Intel Mac anyway.
i only have final cut express 4.1 here, though i had been working on final cut pro at university. so even when i open mpeg streamclip, the only files that it accepts are the vob, none of the others opens there i notice. so is there any solution to this with final cut express?
Fine...I'll help, but only because you are a fellow Eugenian (South Eugene High class of 88')...
Nick gave you the answer. For VOB files and stuff like that (and DVDs and other odd formats) you need to use MPEG STREAMCLIP...downloadable from www.squared5.com. Now, he linked to his tutorial that is here on the forums, but I also put it on my blog...that can be found by
clicking right here.
