Turn Off AirPort and BlueTooth?

Is it possible to buy an MacMINI without AirPort and BlueTooth?
If not it is possible to ensure that neither of these devices radiate?

I can't stand wireless technology...

Strangely, the ultra expensive Mac Pro doesn't even come with these annoying "features"

No option without them. I don't want to be microwaved (and hacked) either.

I'm a little suspicious of just turning them off in preferences, so I've disconnected the wireless chip inside the mini.

This seems to be OK -- but I'm looking into if it's causing any side effects currently so check back here before trying it:

Not sure about radiation from computer devices. I've been using Bluetooth since June's patch to iPhone 3.0 and Airport/WIFI for both my machines in my bedroom and I feel fine. 🙂

You can disable the usage of Airport and Bluetooth by going into the system preferences and find "Network" and turn off airport there or by the taskbar on the top pane with their icons.

Then you just need an Ethernet or Firewire cable connected to your router/cable modem or the usb to telephone line adapter.

If health is the concern, to avoid WiFi you'll now need to stay away from most coffee shops and cafes, many fast food restaurants, copy shops, libraries, hotels and motels, even department and grocery stores. You'll also have to ask all homes and businesses nearby to turn off their wireless routers and access points, cordless phones, and wireless security cameras. Then there's avoiding every cell phone...

In other words, there are a lot more things you have around you exposing you to more of the frequency range of your mini's 2 wireless services.

Electromagnetic radiation falls off exponentially with distance (er, something like that) -- so sitting right next to a wireless transmitter 12 hours a days is quite distinct from walking past Starbucks.

A little scrap of paper in the packing material for your wireless router actually gives you an FCC warning to stay at least 3 feet away from the device. Not something particularly emphasized by the industry.

The point about mobile phones is definitely correct -- which is why I don't use one, and if I really needed to, would make quick calls or text, not keep it glued to my ear all day blabbing about celebrities and my boyfriend problem : )

The government also says its Perfect Save to live directly next door to a nuclear power plant, with cooling water running through a stream in your back yard. You'll find some property bargains if you're willing to do that.

Unless you live in a very remote, rural setting I would bet that within 50-100 feet of you at any given time there is at least one source of RF signal in the 2.4 ghz band. If you add 900 mhz and 5.8 ghz to that, you would be even more likely to be within that distance of such a source.

If you were talking about a laptop or cell phone I might understand your desire to disable the RF source - because of the very close proximity you normally have to such deviceswhen in use. However, you are asking about a Mac mini - are you using it as a pillow? If you are comfortable with a cell phone being ~3-4 feet from your head as safe, why is a Mac mini that should be at least that far away a concern?
