Phone will not import contacts from SIM

Hi, original iPhone, just upgraded device to 3.0. I go to 'import SIM contacts' and the phone acts like it's importing, then kicks out to the main screen. I check the contacts program and nothing is there.
I have verified that the contacts are on the SIM.
Any suggestion on how to resolve this?
Thanks.

Hi all,

I am also having the same problem.
Sucessfully import the contact when still have iPhone 3G OS 2.0 (not sure of the actual OS version but know is 2.something). Recently just change to iPhone 3G[S] and start to configure the iPhone as new.

Has been trying to import contacts and it seems that nothing is imported. Try reset, restore and import again but nothing seems to work. The sim card used was the same as when using iPhone 3G.

Anybody can help???

Same problem for me, with an exception (that may apply to you). After importing SIM contacts and having them NOT show up in contacts list, I've found that they DO, in fact, show up when you do a phone search (the new feature accessed via a right hand sweep from the home page) for a contact that was on the sim card. In fact, it even shows up as a contact. So it does appear to import to the phone, there is just no way of viewing via the contacts list. Let me know if anyone discovers the same.
