ibook smell

The only way to replace the keyboard "on the cheap" is to buy a used one on eBay (or elsewhere), but you run the risk of someone selling their own stinky keyboard.

You can buy a used keyboard from PowerBook Tech, but I believe I would contact them first and ask specifically about the smell.

The longest running thread in Apple Discussions is the Half dimmed flat panel display thread in the Displays forum.

This one is the next oldest.

And in case you're wondering which thread is the longest, it's the Uneven illumination thread in the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Aluminum) > Displays forum.

Apple Discussions are running very slowly right now, and would not allow me to build workable links (at least, they aren't working when I test them out), so I will try again.

It sounds like your iBook is doubling as on of those new fangled air filtration
devices like the kind Sharper Image sells. Somehow, rather than dispensing the
now infamous BO scent, your room's air is being replaced by clean ionized air.

Bravo!, kudos to Jason and Apple for this unexpected reward.

Ronda, I sure do but it was only 2 days post the last msg (kinda like this!), so not too big of a bump. I think it's time to bump into the whiskey...

I have plans on bumping up against a plate of turkey and all the trimmings in a few hours. The bird is in the oven and the house smells wonderful.

I would ask any and all of these places whether the keyboard is new, or, if used, ask about it to make sure that it does not smell. It would be awful to buy a different keyboard and end up with another smelly one.
