Can I delete iT.tmp and TempFile.tmp's?

I just noticed that I have over 13,000 iT.tmp and Temp File.tmp files in my iTunes folder that are apparently taking up 59 GB. I just followed the advice on this board to clear up the issue of my iTunes library disappearing every time I restart my computer (I have a Sony Vaio) if that explains anything. So can I just delete all these files or do I have to keep them for any reason?

Thanks for any help!

You can delete them. They are temporary files created when iTunes writes out a fresh version of the library. If one already exists a new one with a new index is created. I guess the process that was stopping iTunes successfully updating the library is also responsible for it not completing the housekeeping properly. When everything works properly, should you look carefully, you may spot an IT.tmp file occasionally popping in to and out of existence just after you update your library.

There is a problem with media management software Vaio xml library Manager, the Vaio content manager and the Vaio Music Box software

In Control Panel, turn off Vaio Content Folder Watcher and VAIO Content Metadata Intelligent Analyzing Manager.

Sony have issued upgrades to fix this for some models, check you Sony Download site.
