WTB B&W G3 Monitor Cable...

I need to find a cable for an Apple monitor... it's a 16" (or is it 17?) Blue & White, VGA, monitor that came with my B&W G3 and it still performs very well. Yet, the cable has a short causing the colors to get very magenta.

So, where can I get this cable? one end attaches inside the display... and the other end is VGA.

Thanks,

Robert

Hello, Robert Broussard.
From your description, I think you have an Apple Studio Display (17-inch CRT). The model number (check the back or underside of the display) should be M6221. Is this your display?
If so, I don't think the cable can be separated from the display.
Are you sure it's a short in the cable? Have you tried re-calibrating the display or ColorSync profile?
Try following the instructions [here|http://download.info.apple.com/Apple SupportArea/Manuals/monitors/0340624SUDISPLAY17.PDF].

Hi adsfushi72,

The family number is: M6496 and it is a 17" as you suspected (16" viewable). The cable does not disconnect from the display but I'm sure if I had a replacement cable that it could be done... not sure of it is soldered in or what. Also, I can see the damaged part of the cable near the plug and that moving it there will make the video mess up or look perfectly. So, I need a replacement cable or possibly a new plug that could be attached to the cut wires.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Robert

The plug would have to meet the specifications on the last page of [this|http://download.info.apple.com/Apple SupportArea/Manuals/monitors/0624258ASTUDIODISPLAY17.PDF] document.
It is possible to replace the cable if you take apart the display, but it's a long and difficult operation. Also, taking apart anything with a CRT is dangerous, both to you and to the display. I therefore strongly recommend cutting the cable and attaching a new plug. Nevertheless, I'm still looking for the part number of the cable and will tell you if I find it.
