"Do you want iTunes to accept incoming network connections?"

Hi all. For some time now, everytime I launch iTunes, I am presented with an alert box asking

+"Do you want the application 'iTunes.app' to accept incoming network connections?"+

The options it gives me are "Deny" and "Allow". This appears everytime I launch iTunes despite the fact that the Firewall settings in Security Preferences are set for iTunes to "Allow incoming connections". By the way, "Block all incoming connections" is not checked.

I have deleted various preference lists without resolving this issue. Updating to the latest version of iTunes has not helped (8.2.1). Anyone with some suggestions would be helpful even if you think I may have tried it already. Cheers!

It appears that the Firewall checks and remembers the signatures of "approved" applications. But, for some reason (bug?) when you update the applications, in this case iTunes, it does not refresh the signature it has remembered.

So by deleting the entry in Firewall, you are asking it to remember again, when iTunes starts. Because iTunes is known software (it has Apple's signature on it) you are not asked anymore.

Glad this worked for iTunes, will have to try the plist thing aswell as other apps are putting up the same issue. I find Lion quite buggy and sure hope Apple are not letting their succes allow them to get sloppy. Quite concerned about the soon to be released Mountain Lion though. I don't think it's a good sign Apple is moving up the pace pushing new OS'

I had the same problem which appeared when I bought an iPhone and synced it for the first time, which required an update to the latest version of iTunes.

The first sync seems to have automatically enabled "Share my library on my local network" in the Sharing tab of iTunes Preferences. The Sync app has also caused a number of other apps to slow down or get buggy that have nothing to do with the IPhone (legit, robust, professional apps like Adobe CS and Avid).

At any rate, I disabled wireless sync, deselected the library sharing option, and now iTunes launches dialog-free and my pro apps are behaving normally again.

Of course, now I can't share my library on my local network or sync wirelessly, which are supposed to be key value propositions of these products.

iPhone/iOS/OSX FAIL.
