iPod Playback on iPhone Has Unwanted Echo/Reverb

I am having the same problem, it seems to be only with podcasts, but I am not totally sure about that. It also sounds as if the voices are slowed down as if the speed has been slightly altered. Very annoying! Maybe it's the phone?

I am also having a reverb problem, only with podcasts on my iPhone 3G. This phone was also replaced earlier in the year because it had no WiFi reception (have no idea if this is at all relevant).

Same problem. Echo/reverb only heard on saved podcast playback. Streaming audio/podcast is fine. Phone call sound with external speakers is fine. Same reverb heard with and without earbuds. iphone 3G with OS 3.0.1. I have tried reseting and erasing all. Same problem on recover from backup. I guess if I had the time I would reset and erase, then reinstall just OS 3.01 and retest. Maybe a conflict with one of the apps? Recent apps I've loaded include NPR News, KAYAK, reQall, Racers, and Medscape, but my kids are always loading new game apps.

OK, I solved this reverb problem for me. Maybe it's your problem too. When playing a podcast there is a small playback speed button in the upper right just under the timeline bar. I clicked through all the settings, 1X, 2X, 1/2X and back to 1X. Sound is back to normal. (I also went into the settings panel and set all game notifications to OFF, but I don't think that was the problem).

Thanks for the hint. My problem was echo on an old ipod mini playing audiobooks. The Settings>Audiobooks>Speed had somehow gotten set to slow. Setting back to normal solved the problem. If this feature ever worked, it is certainly broken now. The "slow" playback is simply unusable. Apple must not be testing properly.

I wish I would have looked here before I spent the last hour restoring my phone. At least I found this before I went to an Apple store and made myself look stupid. Thanks for the Info!
