"Charging Not Supported With This Accessory"

I just got my new iPhone3Gs,
docked it to the docking station I used with my iPhone3G,
Got the Charging Not Supported With This Accessory message.
Took it out of the dock attached it directly to the USB connection, got the same message,
get the same message if I use my iPhone 3G USB cord or the one that came with the iPhone 3Gs.
(though they look exactly the same)
Anyone have this happen?
I am using a USB hub, but did that with the iPhone 3G also and always got good charging.

The 3GS will not charge with any device that supplies 12V for charging, which is the obsolete Firewire charger on original iPods. After the first generation iPods Apple switched to USB charging, but maintained the Firewire port for backward compatibility. when the 3GS came out they dropped it, probably to make room in the case for additional hardware (supporting firewire required 2 power supplies in the phone). Hardware manufacturers were notified several years ago that support for Firewire charging would eventually be dropped. Some got the message, others didn't. Fortunately, there are adapters that will allow your 3GS to charge with these older technology devices. The adapters are available in the Apple stores and apple store online, as well as from many accessory manufacturers (Belkin, Kensington, etc).

I had the same issue and it was driving me crazy. I spent 30 minutes with an Apple tech support guy today. He had me uninstall all my Apple stuff and reinstall iTunes. The thought was that my computer needed the new USB driver instead of the older one.

After I got off the phone the problem came back.

I have since taken your guy's advice and plugged in my USB cable to the rear of my machine instead of the USB hub in the front of my case (Antec 900). 30 minutes have gone by and still no error message so this may have fixed it.
