You don't get it, do you? This has nothing to do with the normal development of computer technology . This has everything to do with the changing/ the choice of Apple, a few years ago, to change to totally different new processors(intel). And the money spent by people who relied on a company to give them "support" for more then 4 years. Weard that there are people that defend companies that try to get their custumers to pay continiously enormous amounts of money for just keeping their system up to date..... and it's not about the greatest software( how silly to call it that) but about the less bugged and easiest to use,so the latest version......Use your heart..........

Sir, you have proven your ignorance, and a quick perusal of your other recent posts is further testimony to that. I will leave you to stew in your misguided disappointment, as I can see there is no arguing with your lack of understanding.

By the way, Logic 9 will have no problem running on your current machine, in case you missed that.

Arrghh... except for the manufactured comment, you're frightfully accurate.

+So Apple's academic non-upgrade policy still stands. This is written clearly on the shop pages for the upgrade, so that answers that ongoing question."+

That is not unusual. Academic versions are usually not upgradeable.
Look at Cubase. The same thing... no upgrade for academic version.
Actually, it sort-of makes sense. You are supposed to buy the academic to learn. Then, after you are smart, you should use the retail version. I suppose that is the reasoning. Not that I agree with it.

I know, and this was the case for LP7 - but there was some confusion about Apple's policy regarding LP8 as this text had been removed from Apple's website and no one could get a straight answer.

I'm just reporting that it's official again, to clear up any ongoing confusion.

...and sir you have proven your brain has been totally conditioned by the computerworld not able anymore to have a clear and honest view on matters....that this is common in the computerworld since the beginning doesn't give apple the right to do the same. Just look at it without your '20 years experience' will you......who is ignorant here. pfff.....yeah yeah, people will be able to run logic 9 on their PPC but most certainly won't get any bugfixes after the first release (and like other times their will be quite a few) ....so what's the use.....I was not arguing with you sire , just, for others, correct your naivety. 'and a quick perusal look of your other recent posts......' what a laugh

I bought mine last night at the Michigan ave store in Chicago. Although I did have to ask 3 people over the course of an hour to actually get it. The first time I went to the counter and asked an employee who wasn't sure and so asked another co-worker standing next to her. He said not yet. I was suspicious of their confusion, figuring that it was sitting in a box in the back. Went to dinner with my wife around the corner and called the store from my iPhone. A different employee answered and said that they did have it but then quickly changed his tune and said that they only had the new Final Cut. After dinner we went back to the store and asked someone else. And what do you know? Yes we have it in back. So I had to ask 3 times but they had it. The lesson here is if you want something just keep asking different people until you get it.
