iTunes trojan: Small.BOG!!

Tried to open iTunes just now and got an AVG Alert telling me that iTunes.dll and iTunesRegistry.dll are infected with "Trojan horse Small.BOG".

I only just used it yesterday without issue.

Anyone had this before? Any ideas?

found this virus yesterday with AVG, i did a scan, tossed itunes from comp, then did another scan and no more virus. tried to re download itunes and got same virus again. somehow itunes, even if you go back to apple and get the setup again, is infected.

Did you update your AVG virus definitions before reinstalling iTunes? If not, then it will continue to report a problem because the actual problem is with the AVG definitions released on Friday. If you have the latest virus definitions (released late Friday), then it should not report any problems.

I don't have this problem, however from the looks of the comments it appears that the latest update of AVG has false positives for the named dll's I would contact AVG or look around on there website about this... in the mean time I would say its safe to continue using them.

*iTunes reported as a Trojan by AVG - How to Fix*
Saturday, 25th July 2009 - Unfortunately, a recent virus database update resulted in iTunes being detected as a Trojan by AVG security products. We can confirm that it was a false alarm. AVG immediately released a new virus database update (definition file 270.13.29/2260) that corrected this issue.

If you are having problems, please update your AVG and check your iTunes again.

If you find that iTunes is not working after you update AVG, you can restore the deleted iTunes files from the AVG Virus Vault by following the steps below:

• Open the AVG user interface.
• Choose "Virus Vault" option from the "History" menu.
• Locate the iTunes file that was incorrectly removed and select it (one click).
• Click on the "Restore" button.

If you are still having this issue, you need to update to the virus definitions released on Saturday July 25, 2009 or later. Right clicking on the AVG icon in the task bar and choosing "Update Now" should work.

If it doesn't these are the sites to download them manually -

I used iTunes the other day and it notified me that there was an upgrade available. I upgraded and received the same Trojan horse small.BOG message from my anti-virus program so I uninstalled the program and re-installed it going right to the apple website. It did the same thing. I think Apple should know what's going on so they can fix it but I can't find anyone at Apple/iTunes to actually speak to to let them know. I'm even wonderiing if it has anything to do with Quicktime that is installed at the same time.

I just got connected to an itunes technical specialist. He finally found the update from the AVG website. It is at www.free.avg.com/download-update. Update is link: AVI 270.13.33. He had me click on it and save it. Then went to virus vault at AVG and restore all of itunes..Finally I clicked onto Itunes and woo! there it was. I was truly happy! Hope it helps you. He also told me he was going to have apple put something out about this. Hope it helps! God Bless.

I installed iTunes on my PC 2 days ago, and right after installation, my PC started very weird things, it starts clicking and typing letter n (like this nnnnnn) everywhere. Semantec did not determine anything in it.
I reinstalled PC fully, and even HDD was replaced on it at the same time, but when I reinstalled iTunes, same thing happened.
Does anyone experience any similar behavior
It looks strange, I looked through interner, no-one have similar simptoms, but afterall, I am not sure that this buzz does not have a reason.
Still can not fix the PC...

Let me know if anyone dealt with the same issue.
