Apple FIX WIFI!!!!

good heavens, how many people complaining before Apple fixes this wifi connection problem? There is a problem. ACKNOWLEDGE IT!!! I have already had to have one phone replaced and now the second is having wifi issues. No, it is not me, read the posts and search the internet. People are having problems. I am so ready to get a Blackberry. It has wifi and you aren't forced to take a $30 monthly package. Would I recommend Iphone, NO!

Just wanted to share that a post of mine earlier today, where I did some simple maths based on how many people do you know who have aiPhone and how many of those do have a Wifi problem, was deleted as "speculation". If it is 0.1% then ....

Let us say for a fact that I have a Wifi problem and if I ask you if you have also a Wifi issue, that is also a speculation, isn't it?

So the issue seems to be serious enough to delete postings which speculate as to the extend of the issue. That alone makes the issue serious...... (fact not speculation!!!)

My wife and I are also having problems with WIFI. Both of our 3GS 16gb occasionally can't connect to the router at all or it keeps asking us for the password. I even replaced my router thinking it might be the problem and the same problems occur.

I guess it's either a bad batch of hardware or there's a software problem with 3.0.

I'll go get it replaced at Apple and see what happens.

I got tired of waiting and had mine exchanged. This is my second replacement. First one was for defective vibrate button and now for the wi-fi issue. 3.0 definitely broke something with the Wi-Fi. My phone was working perfectly until I installed 3.0.

I completely understand the OPs frustration. Phone is broken and there is a deafening silence from Apple on this. A simple acknowledgment of the issue would go a long way.

Wake up Apple!

Well for me Wifi stability also went south upon upgrading to 3.0. I appear to be "resetting" network settings daily and rebooting many times a day since then. I just got my 3rd "no sim" message requiring a reboot. Oddly, what I noticed this time was signal strenght was poor indoors right before this happened (3g and Wifi)... kind of like the antenna was getting weaker. So I went outside (all 3G bars where back), came back in and Wifi reconnected full bars as well... hopped in my car to drive to the mall and a block down 3g bars just dropped one by one. My Network indicator went away (Rogers) and then boom "no sim" poped-up again!

A reboot got it back up and running, as usual since 3.0, but I stopped at a Rogers store and they found the behavior quite odd. I called their 1-866 tech support number they gave me and when I explained to them my problem they informed me that many radio issues are happening since 3.0 upgrade... Wifi drop outs, unstable network connections from no 3g where it should be full to weak signals and this odd "no sim" issue. He is sending me a new iPhone and advised to not upgrade to 3.x until these issues get sorted out.

Now here's the scary part I find, the tech support guy said he's swapping the phone for me as it is unsure if it is software/firmware related or something that breaks with the antennas on the upgrade process to 3.0 (perhaps related to the other heat issues people are having?).

Anyway, I'm going to stay away from 3.x until this is all sorted out. I need a phone/wifi data network that works not a spotlight search! 🙂

It's really too bad Apple are not acknowledging these issues and giving some guidance. I'm just happy Rogers will take care of me and will be happy to recover a good ol' 2.2.1 iPhone that just does what it's supposed to do!!!! 😉

I have the same issue with wifi. I have free $$$ iPhone and it has not able to find any wifi anywhere!!

I have reset several times in different forms: networking reset, restore from iTunes... even hard reset deleting all contents from phone that takes 2 hours with NO RESULTS!!

I only have connection with 3G or EDGE. When I switch on Wifi toggle NO pop-up with a list of wifis appear. This is a hardware issue? My wifi chip is toasted by the hot of Spain??

Please... I'm one of many users who love his iPhone and it uses all their potential (not only for just calling). As you know... one of the most potential features of this cellular phone is their wifi connectivity. Please! How can i get a solution??

Exactly. As other discussion threads suggest, the problem of the iPhone (especially with 3.0, but going at least back to 2.2) losing all wifi connectivity seems to be related to heat control issues. I don't have any precise figures, but a quick Google search will show you that MANY iPhone users are losing all wifi. There is no predicting when it will occur, but once it does you are screwed, particularly if your phone is out of warranty. It will simply begin an endless search for wifi routers and never find any. There is clearly a serious issue with hardware/firmware relations that Apple needs to address.

Have same wifi issue. Have 2G, worked outstandingly until 3.0. Finally, fed up and bought 3GS which is, "knock on wood" outstanding so far. Reset 2G phone to factory settings and wifi is working and reading full strength. However, as soon as I sync the problem is back. So I can have either a factory set handheld "i-surfer" or an ipod/video/game box because I cannot have both.
So not to upset the gurus on this very helpful forum (I mean this respectfully) my question is:
"Does anyone know how to fix version 3.0?"
Other info:
Router- Lynsys wrt54g
OS- WinXP
Wifi issues prior to V3.0- Zero
Home PC- HP Pavillion 551W (wifi connected - no issues)

Thanks, tried your suggestion. I undocked from the PC. I reset the phone in the settings-general-reset-reset all settings. Waited an hour and the original stuff was there and wifi was perfect. I sync'd as a new phone and got same issue.
I am in process of cleaning the phone again. This time I am going to sync without any new apps, video, audio. Will post result as soon as I complete.

OK, I undocked from PC. I reset the phone in the settings-general-reset-reset all settings. Waited an hour, sync'd as new phone, did not sync any contacts, calendars, audio, video, photos, or apps. WiFi was good. Sync'd contacts with Outlook (where all my stuff is), wifi good. Sync'd calendars with Outlook, wifi good.
So if I assume that my audio is good (not sync'd by the way), then perhaps the problem does lay with an app (which until v3.0 was not an issue). So here are my apps which are not yet sync'd. Before I start the process one at a time I will wait a bit to see if anyone has encountered wifi problems while having any of these apps on their phone. They are as follows: AroundMe, CelebDaly, Converter Pro, Disney Fairies Fly, Dress Chica, Facebook, Fandago, FlightTrack -Live Flight Status Tracker, i,TV, iheart radio, Ladybug Tree, Lose It!, Movies, News Pro, NYTimes, Pandora Radio, Postman Plum Interactive Kids Book, Shazam, Sleeps to Christmas, SparkPeople Food & Fitness Tracker, Sportacular, SportsTap, Urbanspoon, Young Painter, 160,000 Recipes - BigOven.
If I get no response as to these applications, I will begin loading one at a time in the order listed to see what happens.
Will post results most likley by the year 2030.
