Documentation rant (slightly) -- no user manual in PDF?!?

I realize that in this day and age, manuals are bulky, extraneous and heavy. Oh, and not to mention they are also made out of paper. No big deal, honest.

I'm okay that there are no paper manuals, but why why WHY did they not include a standard PDF version of the user manual?

It's not even an option in the help menu anymore.

In looking at where the L8 manual is supposed to be, nested deep within the contents of the application package -- and voila -- instead of a simple, easy to use (and print) PDF file there are loads and loads of ... HTML files?!?

Does Apple really think that opening Safari (or Firefox) is going to be any faster than using Preview?

Who signed off on this? 😉

Sorry, it's a rant I know. If there is another solution, like buying bound copies of the manuals, I will do it. But why did they take away the pdf?!?

Hi Bee Jay

Sorry to single you out but you seem to know more than any other user here!

I have been working on a track with around 16 audio tracks and 8 or so virtual instrument tracks. Lots of plugin usage, 5 Waves GTR instances, 4 Omnisphere instances, 1 BFD v2 instance, also lots of FX ie 8 buses of different Space Designer etc. My 8 core has no maxed out threads, all are barely loaded.

During my last recording session, we noticed that while recording the waveform would be visible but would disappear to be a flat line as soon as we hit stop. We then noticed that all the audio that was recorded lost their waveform views! This makes it pretty much impossible to do any edits! I have tried "refresh views" several times (Under options>audio) and also I have used "save as" to a new session to a completely new drive but still no use. This is in both LP9 and LP8. It's only on this one song though, my other songs seem fine. This song does have more instances of Omnisphere than any other song though I don't think that is the problem. All my 3rd party plugs are up to date too.

Any ideas???
Cheers in advance!!
Bobs

The OS is Leopard 10.5.8 and I have 6Gb ram in my 2.66Ghz 8-core MacPro at the moment, and the song is on a new 500Gb internal drive.
