the search window offers Google or Yahoo - but the Google is .com. This is irritating as half the searches are irrelevant for a UK user. How can I make the default Google .co.uk?
Hi
I'd also like to find out how to do this. Seems that it is possible (with some fumbling, albeit) via GLIMS (see here:
http://www.machangout.com/) but this is only useful on Mac, not for Windows.
I'm very surprised this is so difficult and is currently driving me back to the dark side (IE).
It's good to see that Safari / Windows users have the same issue regarding a lack of freedom to set the search engine to one's preference. Hopefully the Windows version also has a "send feedback" or "report bugs" button (in the Mac version it's under the equivalent of the File menu) - if enough users gripe through this method, hopefully they'll include this option in a future release.
I just thought I'd add my own two cents, I'm from Australia and am having the exact same problem. In my case, I'd like to be able to use google.com.au
Sure, we can navigate to google.com.au and search directly from there, but I'd much prefer to be able to do it directly from the search bar. I don't see why Apple wouldn't bother to think of international users.
If anyone ever finds a way to set other default search engines on Safari for Windows, please share 🙂
