codesign: unrecognized option `--entitlements'

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the iPhone SDK, just bought the program a couple days ago. I can't seem to figure out how to install my application on my iPod Touch that i plan to use for testing. I have tried re-installing Xcode multiple times. I have also read all other posts on this topic. I just keep getting the "codesign: unrecognized option `--entitlements' " error no matter what i try. Does anyone have anyone have the solution to this problem?

Thanks.

macbook, iPhone OS 3.0

Hi, BruceRR & welcome to the forums.

The short story is you need:
• xcode installed
• touch attached
• certificates....this might be the trickiest part, since it involves creating/provisioning/installing etc.

I'd suggest going over this document:

iphonedeveloper_program_user_guide__standard_programv1.1

...giving it another try, and then another round of questions here if you're still stumped. Good news is that once you get it working, followups are trivial.

Good luck in any case.

Does this have anything to do with my problem:

When i open the provisioning profile assistant, i get the page where it generates my profile, and after about 5 minutes of loading (it says "up to one minute") i get this error message:

We are not able to generate your Profile at this time.
Please try again later or try using the Program Portal.

Yes, I did drop the certificate and dropped it on to the Xcode icon.

How do you provision in Keychain?

See the 'Standard Program Portal User Guide for OS X iPhone 2.0 PDF'
Pages 4, 7, 8, 22, 24, 26 as examples...

Pg. 26: "Downloading and Installing iPhone Distribution Certificates
1. In the ‘Certificates’-->’Distribution’ section of the Portal, Control-Click the WWDR Intermediate Certificate link and select
“Saved Linked File to Downloads” to initiate download of the certificate. After downloading, double-click the certificate to
launch Keychain Access and install.
2. In the same area of the Program Portal, click on the name of the iPhone Distribution Certificate to download.
3. On your local machine, double-click the downloaded .cer file to launch Keychain Access and install your certificate."
