Header image stuck - cannot delete

I have recently converted a ton of documents from .doc to .pages. There was a graphic in the header in the .doc file, but now that it has been converted to the .pages file, the header image is there (on all pages but 1), but it is stuck. It is not actually part of the header, it is 'behind' it, and I am unable to select it, no matter what I do. If I toggle the header off, it is still there. I've also turned on the option 'make background images selectable'. I would like to be able to change it to a new graphic, but obviously am having issues. Anyone know a fix?
