iPhone Wifi Unable to join Network

Since 3 days now my iphone 3G(3.0) can not connect to a wireless network. Before it connect automatically at home or at work but now it says "Unable to join network". I have reset the network even restore my iphone to default settings. Still it can not connect to a wireless network. But what I dont understand is that it finds wireless networks but can not connect to it even to a free wireless network it keeps on displaying "Unable to join network"
I have called AppleCare they told me to do thesame things I have done.
Any body having thasame problem? Is it hardware or software problem? Please can any body help me? iPhone is no good without wifi...

I am having iPhone2g.
Problem started after upgrading to OS 2 and when I used sometime the EDGE connection

I think the EDGE connection corrupts the WiFI settings.
Now, I can still subscribe to EDGE and it works fine but my WiFi fails 99%.
It wont shows the Wifi Network, even if I am next to the Router.
It thinks the signal is too weak and tries to connect to EDGE.

Please Apple. Help us. Made the trip to the Apple store where they confirmed my wifi problem. They swapped my phone and today, two days after the swap, the same sh^t.."Unable to connect to Network"... or if it does happen to connect, it drops the connection like a hot potato, OR the signal is so weak it's useless..These are all networks that my 1g phone never had a problem connecting to..

Ever since iphone 3G(3.0) I can not connect to a wireless network. Before it connected automatically at home and now all I get is "Unable to join network". I have reset the network settings and I still it can not connect to a wireless network even though it finds all wireless networks around me. I've read all the posts here and else where and I've tried everything and no dice. Apple, please get us an update to fix this issue, its really annoying.

I bought an iPhone 3G. It was originally 2.2.1. I upgraded to 3.0.1 and the wiFi problem started to annoy me. The wiFi grayed out. I restored it didn't fix it. I erased all the contents. It took two hours. Now it was not grayed out any more, but it sometimes finds networks sometimes not. When it does, then it says Unable to Connect to Network. It's totally ridiculous. By the way, what is the freezer thing? Does it really work?

Same here. Brand new iPhone. Switzerland. We have also the problem but forum not very active here. My problem is intermittent: I have a hard time connecting to my wifi. I have a better chance when in line of sight. Most of the time I have to retype the access key. I have to retry 2-3 times. I managed it as this is sent over my Wifi.
But WHY is there no reliable solution to this problem? And a definite diagnostic ? I was so proud of my MacPlus Freedom, ease of use. I was so ****** when I had to work with windows 3.1. I had great expectations in open source. And now: what has become of Apple? i Hit Walls all the time

Here is the latest Victim of the fantom WI-FI problem.
My iphone 3G is on version 2.2. I have shied away from upgrading as I have a Canadian Unlocked / Jailbroken phone.
I have happily working with WI-FI for 10 months until I decided to go into AIRPLANE mode and use WI-FI. It worked for a liitle bit, maybe 5 minutes, but very soon it dropped the connection and at the begining it was recognising the networks, but saying "unable to connect". Now it does not even recognise the networks. When I manualy try to connect to a network, it cannot find it.
I have tried the hold down the Power and home button business to no avail.

Are you guys (sharar07 and goodgood) serious about the freezer business?
Just tell me yes, before I (in my desparation) try it.

yeah, exactly.. is it works? I've read about the wifi module it's getting to hot and software just turns it of, but does really putting IP in the freeze works? And if it does, how long it takes to wifi module start being hot again? cause if it's a solution only for couple of minutes of having wifi working I won't try it 🙂

(sorry for my english)

Ok, I have an Itouch 1st generation. I was able to connect to my wifi without any problems for over a 8 months until I upgraded to the 3.1.2. Now, all wifi addresses still show up in my list, but even after entering the correct password every wifi network I attempt to connect to it says unable to join the network "(network name)". I have tried all of the fixes. I press the blue arrow of the wifi network and it does not list the IP address or subnet mask, router, or anything at all on that page. PLEASE HELP! I have reset everything changed the network SSID, made it unsecured, tried different wifi networks. I'm out of ideas.

I, like many others, have been having this "unable to join network" problem. I read multiple, multiple forums and in the end what worked for me was:
(First of all, to do all of this I went to "http://gateway.2wire.net/" to access my router, I have at&t so your access to your router may be different. I did the general steps as in "#)" and the steps I took specifically for att uverse as in "#)*")
1) Changing my Wi-fi network's SSID from the factory name (it was 2WIRE481) to a custome name.
1)* For steps 1 and 2, I went to http://gateway.2wire.net/, then to "Home Network", then to "Wireless Settings", I was then able to change the SSID and network password.
2) I changed the password of my wi-fi address (I don't think this is necessary, but it was more convenient for me anyways)
2)* Same steps as in step 1. Make sure to click save, otherwise the network will not change it.
3) I completely restarted my network system.
3)*I did this by going to "http://gateway.2wire.net/" and clicking system, then looked at my wireless router and clicked "view details", then clicked "restart the system".

After doing these steps I was able to connect to the network on my itouch by opening wifi and typing in the password! I wasn't able to use my wi-fi for months and this finally fixed it. Thanks for everyone's help.

Hope this helps!
