iPhone Wifi Unable to join Network

Since 3 days now my iphone 3G(3.0) can not connect to a wireless network. Before it connect automatically at home or at work but now it says "Unable to join network". I have reset the network even restore my iphone to default settings. Still it can not connect to a wireless network. But what I dont understand is that it finds wireless networks but can not connect to it even to a free wireless network it keeps on displaying "Unable to join network"
I have called AppleCare they told me to do thesame things I have done.
Any body having thasame problem? Is it hardware or software problem? Please can any body help me? iPhone is no good without wifi...

just a side note, - the hand-me-down phone that wont connect at home, "unable to connect" or "failed to connect". did connect for about 30min while i was on the train. so could be a loose antenna? don't know. seeing as it is out side its warranty, I'l open it up after I have tried mucking around with the router settings.

n.b. the wifi on the train is the only wifi connection it has been able to connect to after the update on the modem firmware and os.

I use 2 wifi networks (entreprise and home)

1) My entreprise network is silently joining by my iPhone,
2) When I came back to home, my iPhone always sends me a request to give my password !

I must shutdown my iPhone before trying to automatically join my home's network wifi !

It is really painful story !!!!

Similar problems for me.

Tried everything to resolve, including multiple restores but not the 'Freezer Trick'. Symptoms persist:
- Detects all nearby networks with good signal strengths.
- Unable to join networks with no security, or with correct password (connected to them successfully in the recent past/intermittently with these passwords)
- Other iPhone 3G users connect to these networks flawlessly.
- No entries in the blue arrow address sections.
- Connects manually perhaps once per two weeks: cannot determine why.
- When connected and functioning if I 'Renew Lease', the connection is lost and cannot be regained.

Hopefully there will be a breakthrough fix for this issue. I have trouble believing it is a hardware issue. I really don't want to send my phone back to Australia for repair/replacement - I would miss it too much!

We have 2 iPhones with Telstra Next G. I had my new iPhone 32GB 3gs for a few months and also got one for my partner only a few weeks ago. Mine lost wi-fi connection about a month ago, and hers about 2 weeks later from mine. Both have up to date software.

Same issue, it can detect my wi-fi network name but cannot connect to it, so i have to resort to using 3g to connect. Some days it does connect and most days it does not after doing the reset.

Sometimes mine will connect perfect full wi-fi coverage, but at same time hers will be unable to connect, or only have very low wi-fi strength unable to connect. ....Go FIG!

iphone - unable to join the network - Solved

Solved - Solved -Solved

I held my iphone touching the antenna of WIFI router, it connected to the router. I was able to use the internet in this position only. Moving away from router's antenna, internet does not works. At leaset now I can do some very urgent works on iphone without GPRS connection.
I was not able to use my wifi for last six months. Done everything that was already discussed in all the forums.

I'm having the same problem as everyone else here. Went though Apple and did all they suggested and still no Wi-Fi. So as a last resort did the freezer method, it worked, for 10 minutes then back to no Wi-Fi again. Many people here have said that this is an ongoing problem, why hasn't Apple fixed it?? This is very frustrating, the only good thing is I'm seem not to be alone. If I find an answer that works for me I will pass it along.
