My number setting, you can change it?

Hey guys,

So I was playing around with my iphone today, and I noticed if you go to settings-->phone-->my number you go to a screen that shows your number, but with a keypad underneath it, as if you could change it. I'm just curious about this, but what would happen if you were to edit it there? Surely you can't edit your number in such an insecure way right?

Thanks

It only edits the number stored on the sim card. It does not actually assign the iPhone a new phone number. Many phones allow you to edit the number stored on the sim card.
