Safari and Chase.com viewing statements fyi

I followed these instructions and was finally able to view online my chase statement via Safari, couldn't download it though. While this is an improvement, my issue is that I use firefox, which the above instructions had no effect on.
I can only download the statement via firefox. Attempting to open the statement with any program that is capable of opening a pdf file returns an error relating to the improper formatting of the pdf.

I believe Chase has got something funky conversion process when it comes to statements, but won't admit it. I can open and view other pdf files found on their site, should I blame that on Apple/Safari and Firefox as well?

I did a little further troubleshooting with Firefox and was able to view online my statement.

Found a pdf plug-in for Firefox called "firefox pdf plugin for Mac OS X 1.1.2"

I installed that. I still can't download and open the statement, but selecting bypass pdf in the dropdown menu bar that shows up when viewing doesn't happen brings up the statement. Clicking on "Save Page As" from the file menu and not the Save page as PDF brings up a save dialog box. From the pulldown on that dialog box select pdf and it will format it properly for opening in Acrobat Reader.

I know there aren't many of us following this thread, but hopefully what I found will help someone.

Agh! The terminal stuff or preferences you mention above didn't work for me; I did find the Library/Internet Plugins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin and removed that, but it popped back in, and nothing seemed to work.

So I used Safari's "Activity" window (useful for sniffing out mp3 files played by Flash, by the way) and found the file. Chase is using some sort of frameset, and one of the frames is the .asp file that delivers the PDF. So I was able to double-click that file in the Activity window, which launched a new black window in Safari. Then, I opened the Download window, and dragged the URL from the black window to the download window, and it started to download the PDF. Then I was able to open it in Acrobat (the standalone application, not the plugin) or Preview.
