Songs won't transfer to my new iPod Classic

I have an iMac running OSX 10.5.7. I just purchased a new iPod Classic (120gb). When I sync the new iPod it does not transfer to the iPod all the songs in the designated file. I've tried manually dragging the songs and this does not work. I tried copying the entire library to the iPod (rather than just my file), and this does not work. Nearly all of the songs that will not transfer came from discs I own and uploaded to iTunes so I know it's not a licensing issue. Anyone experience this problem? Any ideas how to fix?

If you've stumbled across this thread and have experienced the same problem, I recommend you read the following thread in the "Using iPod Classic" section: "One particular artist won't sync to iPod." Problem solved. Apparently, the problem lies in synching songs that iTunes identifies as part of a compilation. You have to uncheck the box indicating that the song is part of a compilation. It will then transfer. Thanks to Phil for his help.
