Logic 9: Not enough free memory!

Ok, as already discussed there is an annoying "memory getting low" box at approx 2.0 Gb RAM usage in logic 9 but you can just continue working but then at 2.30 Gb RAM usage this box comes up and you have to quit Logic ! Why! Any workaround?

"There is not enough free memory to continue working with this project. Logic will quit now ( you will be prompted to save any changes)."

This issue is getting really annoying isn't it? I have sessions which Logic 9 will open fine one time, then have big problems with it another time. I'm soloing individual tracks at 44.1 and then bouncing at 96k as 96k is a joke. I have more than a capable system to bounce stems at 96k so why is Logic 9 making such a meal of it sometimes but not others? It reminds me of the "You have completed an illegal act and will be shut down" message on PCs from years ago, only to then double click on the session in Finder, and then remember that that doesn't work either (a noted bug in LP9)

9.0.1 update please!

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one having this issue. I can't even use LP9. I load a few plugins and this thing starts screaming at me. I have 14 gig of RAM. I load IVORY and Sampletank and the thing freaks out and tells me it's gonna quit. I go back to LP8 and everything is fine. I can keep loading plugs all day and it's solid as a rock. So much for improved upgrades. Very (First Time) disappointed Apple

i agree with ben and fanta
this *****
its just as bad as the blue screen of death, basically the same thing

I have logic 9, ordered it the day it came out

BUT IM STILL USING 8

because 9 cant handle anything i do

and that is unacceptable for an upgrade
if anything the performance should be better

and if someone who is packin 14g is having these issues, theres a serious problem

I was told that Snow Leopard will fix this problem. Right now OS 10.5.x can only access up to around 2GB of RAM. OS 10.6 is 64 bit and can access tons more ram which should fix the problem. I'm just biding my time until OS 10.6 (should be out in Sept according to Apple) and hoping that that's the fix.

Apple probably should have put out L9 and Os 10.6 out at the same time.....

Actually it's somewhere around 3.6GB of RAM, this is what Logic-8 can load before crashing magnificently. Apple is playing it safe and limiting the program's memory usage, probably in the hopes people will not lose work...just guessing.

I don't think the RAM limitation is all Snow Leopard, will have to wait and see on that one.

Starting a L9 session with a L8 template or opening an existing L8 song in L9 causes more trouble.
So I recreated my templates from scratch with L9 using session data import. I also open a new empty project and use session data import to work on my old Logic 8 songs instead of directly opening them. When I first got Logic 9 I used to see the low memory error all the time. Now it's significantly low.

You won't find a fix for the Logic 9 issues in Snow Leopard if you are on a G5 machine (like we are, running Logic 8 and 9 on G5 Quad machines), as 10.6 is apparently not compatible with PowerPC machines ( http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html). You must have an Intel Mac in order to upgrade to 10.6, according to the requirements tool on the Pre-Order page ( http://store.apple.com/us/product/MACOS_XSNGL). This is a huge fail, in my opinion.

We have been able to take advantage of some of Logic 9's new features by switching back and forth between 8 and 9, but that isn't very practical or efficient for professional use.
