Logic 9: Not enough free memory!

Ok, as already discussed there is an annoying "memory getting low" box at approx 2.0 Gb RAM usage in logic 9 but you can just continue working but then at 2.30 Gb RAM usage this box comes up and you have to quit Logic ! Why! Any workaround?

"There is not enough free memory to continue working with this project. Logic will quit now ( you will be prompted to save any changes)."

octo 3.2 Ghz 8 Gb RAM, 8800GT, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

It is not unreasonable, IMHO, for Apple or any other software company to not impede their progress with the necessity of making their new products work on PPC as well as MacIntels at this point. Apple introduced the Intel chips quite a while ago and people have had a fair amount of time to transition if they wish to stay current.
