convert to .mpg or .mpeg ?

convert to .mpg or .mpeg ?

How do i convert a file from .mov or another format to .mpg or .mpeg to use in Flash?
I can't find the way to do it in quicktime 7. There is .mp4 but it doesn't work.

You'll need QuickTime Pro and a special plug-in from Macromedia that allows export to Flash Video (.flv). More info here:

I have Quicktime 7 Pro, and i downloaded the plugin, thanks for the link.

I'll try it in a while.

But isn't there an export option in Quicktime 7 pro or another software to save as .mpeg?

QuickTime does not export to MPEG (1 or 2). Apple Pro apps now use Compressor for that function.
You could use Toast to create a disk image (no need to actually "burn") and then copy the resulting MPEG file. It can create MPEG-1 (VCD format) or MPEG-2 (DVD format).

And a quick note the DVD or VCD image won't have MPG (or MPEG) files - in the case of DVD look for the VOB files, in VCD the AVSEQ##.DAT files which are MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 respectively. You can rename them to something that is easier to remember the content and add an MPG extension if you like.

If you set Toast prefs to not delete converted assets when done you can find the M2V (or M1V for MPEG-1) and M1A video and audio files Toast makes in the Documents\Roxio Converted Items folder. Quite handy as each original clip is a separate file. You can merge (mux) them in MPEG Streamclip.
