att network vs verizon

we need to replace our phones. i want to switch from verizon to att to get iphones. my wife thinks the att network is unreliable compared to verizon and wants us to get blackberrys. i'd appreciate any comments on verizon vs att for network reliability. we live in boston, so that's the primary focus, but we travel a lot too.

I love my iphone, I hate ATT. I have a family line, 2 members. In the last 3 months, my college student and I have had:
A: 241 dropped calls, sometimes 4 or 5 dropped calls PER conversation
B: DOZENS or more missed calls: Calls that not only don't appear in the 'missed call' bar, but
don't even SHOW up as ever having been received at all, even in 'recents'. I use this phone for
business, how many clients / potential clients have called me and NEVER heard back, as I have
NO record of their calls. If family and friends weren't calling us, mad at us for not responding,
we would never know this. And our phones don't even RING.
C: Voice mail that is nothing but electronic static
D: Phone calls that are nothing but electronic static
E: I pay for my daughter to have unlimited texting. Same thing as B, only by the 100s. Text mail
sent and never received by her friends or family; text mail sent to her and never received at all.
F: Texts and calls that show up in our phones 48+ HOURS LATE. Voice mail, recents and text
messages that appear 2 to 3 days AFTER they have been placed.

HOW CAN I RUN A BUSINESS WITH THIS PHONE? Why in the world did Apple go with the infamous evil ATT empire? I have friends with ATT 3G, non-i-phone telephones, who are having NO trouble at all. I don't think this is Apples fault, I think ATT is either not watching their i-phone ball or ????

I've been an Apple devotee since 1987. From the Mac II, to the Performa, to the tangerine imac, to the thin imac... plus 2 laptops....I have me.com...we have i-phones. I've moved the entire extended family into mac over the last 5 years. But if this doesn't get fixed soon, I'm ebaying my iphone and going for Verizon / Googles phone, which I hear behaves most, if not ALL of the time.

Why in the world would I continue to pay $165/month for total unrealiability?

Thank you, from a devoted but let-down life-time customer.

I have never had a problem with AT&T and the iPhone anywhere my wife & I have traveled. I live in California and traveled to Florida, Caribbean and even in Europe. Never had a problem with my iPhone or AT&T's network. Every carrier has dead zones. Its all about price and feature! I hate blackberry's and Verizon is ok as a carrier, wouldn't go with them myself.
