Just upgraded to OSX 10.5.8 and Safari 4.0.3. Loading web pages in Safari 4.0.3 is very slow taking up to 20 secs for some pages when in the past it only took 1-2 secs max.
THANK YOU!!!!! This seems to have worked beautifully! It has been so frustrating with the slow page load & I wonder why we're not told how to fix what seems like a known issue when we upgrade to the new version of mac os.
Hey, will adding the DNS servers codes mess up my network via Airport Extreme? Should I talk to Time Warner, for what that is worth. Totally useless customer service. Thanks!
Thanks so much! Your solution to speeding up browsing is great.
How do you know which opendns codes are the appropriate? and how did you get them in the first place? (unless this is a family secret).
Many thanks again.
Hi, I've followed all the instructions and successfully set up an OpenDNS account but my safari is not any faster at all. I have 20MB broadband here in the UK but it still feels like 4MB, pretty slow and often timing out. Anyone got any tips or tricks??
Just one of your brothers over here on Oahu who wants to give a big thanks for your advice on speeding up the web browsers. I was banging my head after I installed Snow Leopard and couldn't figure out why my web pages were taking so long to load. I'm on Roadrunner and had lightning fast load times prior to the upgrade. Scoured the forums and even talked to the apple reps at Kahala and they had nothing to tell me as to the problem. Your easy solution although I don't know all the intricacies of the process as to how it works...lol fixed it all Bra! Everything's good in the Ohana now...
Just a big "Thanks" for this posting. Sped my Safari browsing up considerably. I'm running bisexual imac, and browsing still faster on Vista side with IE, but definite improvement with DNS fix...
Hi, I am now having slow internet connection issues too after my upgrade to snow leopard. I tried to follow your directions for the DNS codes, but when I go and click the DNS panel under advanced, I only see a column for DNS servers and one for Search Domains. Under my DNS server it shows 10.0.1.1 and it's greyed out. I don't see where you meant to enter "DNS codes" or is that under DNS server? Not really understanding this server/code stuff, so if you could just let me know exactly what to look for, maybe I can get fast internet again.
It's just weird how this is happening, I know its not my internet because we have two other computers in the house connected and they work perfectly.
yeah I assume so, I didn't have this slow Safari until I upgraded to snow leopard. my husband's macbook pro with only leopard is working just fine with our internet, and our other PC works too, mine worked great also until the upgrade. I've seen others having the same issue but nothing seems to be helping. guess I'll have to call Apple again.
My Safari 4.0.3 does not run at all on my desktop but does on my other desktops.
This is the only desktop using Firefox. I haven't been able to find any solutions.
Naturally I can't use iTunes on this desktop either - but I'm in good company there!
I've been using Apple since the stone age but am getting VERY disillusioned.
