OverDrive Media Trouble Syncing w/iPhone and iTunes

I recently found that my library offers rental audiobooks via OverDrive Media. It's a great idea, however, I keep receiving the following error msg:

"The OverDrive Media Console Transfer Wizard is not able to connect to iTunes. If you intend to transfer content to the iTunes Library and/or a supported Apple device, please note that iTunes v7.6.2.9 (or newer) is required. iTunes is available as a free download from Apple; visit http://www.apple.com/itunes/download to download iTunes. If your system meets this requirement, please close any open iTunes dialog boxes then attempt to transfer again."

My version of iTunes: 8.2.1.6
My version of Quicktime: 7.6.2 (there isn't a newer version available)
My version of OverDrive Console: 3.2.0.1

I double checked and my iPhone is set up to manually manage music and videos.

I don't know what else to do. Anyone else having these problems?

PC, Windows Vista

I am having the same problem and error as the origial poster. I have used Overdrive Media Console to transfer library audiobooks for two months with no problems. Not only can't I transfer new titles but my upgrade to iTunes 9 yesterday wipe out all five books I was already listening to!! Has anyone figured out the fix?

You MUST set iTunes to "manually manage music and videos". you can do this by connecting your iPod to your computer and opeing iTunes,On the bottom of the summary page check that box and then hot apply in the lower right hand corner. Then open Overdrive (3.2) and try to transfer, It should recognize your device and start the transfer. Good Luck.

I'm having the same problem as the users above. I have:
iTunes 9.0
OverDrive 3.2.0.2
I wrote to OverDrive support today, they suggested I uninstall and then reinstall both iTunes and OverDrive. I verified that my summary page has "manually manager music and videos" checked. Any other ideas? I really don't want to uninstall iTunes.

I'm having similar issues. Sometimes it will transfer just fine, others it freaks out and says transfer time is equivalent to the play time! Then when I do get it to transfer, iTunes deletes it when I sync my music. I'm getting frustrated with having to retransfer books multiple times a day and finding my ipod to be useless since I bought it specifically for books.
