Send a Shutdown Signal Across Network when Shutdown via UPS

Hey All
I Think my title says most of it 🙂

I have two xServes in my school as well as a number of iMacs acting as servers and are all protected by a UPS. This problem is, I can only interface the UPS with a single sever. So in the case of a power-outage (which are becoming fairly frequent) only one server will shutdown gracefully automatically.

Is their a way to have the Server send out a shutdown signal across the network to the other servers in the case of a power outage? Currently I am using the energy saver preferences. The software the came with the UPS was not very reliable.

Thanks,
Tim

"upsshutdown" is a pre-built script provided by the OS. You can modify the script "/usr/libexec/upsshutdown". You can also do "man upsshutdown" for more information.

The 'upsshutdown' script only works locally on OS X. You may wish to investigate ' NUT', which is the open-source 'Network UPS Tools' project that does work with OS X. OS X specific information:

'NUT' and appropriate utilities/drivers are available from the FINK Project:
