iPod Sync issues in Windows 7

I know that there is little to no support for Windows 7 yet, but, is anyone else having an issues syncing their iPod 5th G with iTunes? It will appear in Windows and in iTunes and then it will be "ejected" and disappears from Windows. iTunes will give a "timed out" error because the iPod is missing. I have an iPhone 3GS and that runs with no issues.

I'm running the final build of 7 (6.1.7600). Anyone have any suggestions?

I have the same problem! I plug my ipod (video 5th gen) in and my comp recognizes it, iTunes opens and I can start syncing, and then my comp just stops recognizing it, and when I open my computer, it says fat32 or something...
Also after this happens the other usb ports stopped working.

I dídn't have a problem with Vista 64bit or XP.

So I hope APPLE comes up with a fix SOON!

Hi! I tried to do exactly what you wrote down, and at first it seemed to work, but then when I try to sync it starts syncing and then says sync complete, and a little screen pops up saying cannot complete syncing because it cannot find the device. And the ipod is not recognized and all my other usb ports stop working correctly.
So thanks for posting it! But am affraid it doesn't work for everybody...

Anyone have other ideas?! I have a 5th gen iPod video 80gb.

I guess I'm in a long queue of those the Ipod 5th Gen Classics that have upgraded from Vista 64bit to Win7 64bit and now the Ipod just won't sync. Itunes says that it can't find a file required for syncing. Itunes and Win7 hangs up. i have to recycle power to get the computer to work again. It was great in Vista 64, but Win7 has a repeated problem. Microsoft's Win7 Advisor said to remove Itunes before installing the Win7 upgrade and reinstall after all Windows updates were installed. Itunes still has a syncing issue. I will watch for the update.

This fixed it for me. Run in vista compatability mode. there are a few steps here you may not need but I was trying a bunch of stuff and that how it worked. My Ipod shuffle wouldn't respond when I pluged it in after the upgrade to windows 7.

1. ctrl altdelete end process on ituneshelper.exe - I don't think this is nessary
2. right mouse click Itunes - Properties
3. compatability tab - check run in compatabilty mode - I used vista
4. plug in you Ipod - drivers should load
5. restart computer - may not be nessary
6. launch Itunes if it says something about compatibility mode just click OK
7. at this point it should work, close Itunes
8. turn off compatibility mode in the same fashion you turned it on

Hope this works for you it did for me.

HOTFIX I found if your motherboard has a Nvidia southbridge controller and you have 4gb of RAM. Worked for me!

Consider the following scenario:

* You have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
* The computer has an NVIDIA USB Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) chipset.
* The computer has at least 4GB of RAM.
* You try to copy data from the computer to an external USB storage device.

In this scenario, either of the following issues occurs:

* The computer stops responding.
* The copy operation stops.

Notes

* This issue may also occur when you are using USB devices other than storage devices.
* This issue may also occur if you perform other input/output (I/O) operations on the USB storage device. In this situation, the I/O operations fail
