Color Profile problem

Hey guys,

Just installed the new cat, and something's wrong with the color profile. I'm using a week-old MacBook Pro 13 inch, and for some reason, there's no "Color LCD" profile in system preferences, and it defaults to "Display," which makes my screen extremely blue.

I tried erasing my hard drive and reinstalling to no avail. Any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance!

I've been finding the same issue of the blues in the menu bars turning to purple after doing colour calibration using my Eye1 Display 2. I have had the same issue on my Mac Pro with a Samsung 244T monitor, a Dell U2711 monitor as well as the built-in display on my unibody 15" MacBook Pro.

Same results occur with 10.6.2 and 10.6.3. I've tried setting my own white point, using native, or trying 6500K... all with the same blue to purple shift.

XRite support has been HORRIBLE. They won't even acknowledge that there may be an issue with Snow Leopard and just want to send me replacement calibrators even though I've tried it with 2 different devices.

Anyways - hoping someone out there may have figured something out!

This thread has been quit for a while. Does that mean, that the problem is solved?
I am still having this problem. I tried to calibrate my external monitor with my Eye-One Display 2 and Eye-One Match 3 (version 3.6.3.) and the calibration was ok till last window of the calibration software when i press finish. Then the colors go washed out and the contrast is a little reduced. I havent found any solutions yet for this problem.
The profile behaves also very strange. When I upload photos to my blog, the wordpress generated thumbnails seem as they should, but when I open the original photo, the colors are washed out. I donwloaded both files and checked the get info and the wordpress generated thumbnail has no color profile embeded and the original photo has the srgb embeded (because of exporting from Lightroom).
This is very strange, since the thumbnail and the original photo do not match. This color profile issue is a big pain since I am a professional photographer and I need corect colors.
Hope that this is getting solved very soon!

The problem still exists in 10.6.4.

If I use any profile other than SRGB, Generic RGB, or Adobe RGB then I get messed up colors (purple menus, desaturated colors, hue shift in photos, etc).

This has been a problem since the initial release of Snow Leopard as far as I know. Very annoying.

Edit: The problem even exists if I use the built in Calibration tool. It seems to only mess up the colors after it creates the profile, while going through the steps the menus stay blue even though you are changing gamma/white balance/etc.

I can leave all the settings default and just go through the steps and I still get the funky colors.

Has anyone come up with a solution to the issue that GregorH has which is same as mine?

Have you checked the position of the "Enhance contrast" slider in the "Seeing" tab of "Universal Access" system preference?
