Snow Leopard Installation

Got my copy of Snow Leopard (update from 10.5) this morning, inserted it into the DVD drive of my iMac, pressed "installation" and everything worked well. No problems, no show stoppers, no worries.

Took about an hour, rebooted once after 15 minutes ("45 minutes left") and completed installation smoothly with a final reboot.

System is up and running stable, boot procedure and general system performance appear to be quicker...

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6)

Glad a German countryman is enjoying Snow Leopard ... I just installed my copy here in Southern California, and it is, indeed, noticeably quicker. Also MANY minor cosmetic changes that actually enhance appearance and enjoyment.

Snow Leopard found my home network ... wireless printer ... got me connected painlessly to my me.com account ... this all takes me back to the excitement I felt the afternoon I opened up the box containing my new 17" MacBook Pro. Some may decry this as not a "major" OS release. But this past couple of hours sure "felt" good.

Now, then: I promise to to go whacko and install 200 little utilities that get used once or twice, then abandoned. (grin)

got the same issue with gp5 it hangs on the splash at startup, i havent got it to run once, aside from the general buggyness and slowness due to the buggyness there is very little i dont like about the new os, of course it got bugs thats what you get for adopting early its part and parcel ...it doesn't stop me from getting irritated about things that didnt need changing haha like spaces being slow. expose getting stuck, those horrid blue glows that dont animate very well in expose :S oh well i hope apple hears some of these complaints and resolves them i know its got stuff on for this month s i hope they dont sideline resolving these issues because most of the ones i am having are not down to 3rd party devs, they are happening to fresh installs of sl!

I upgraded all machines (iMac 20", iMac 24" and MBP) this afternoon without a single hitch. The only machine left undone is the Mac Mini and I think I will skip that simply it is too old.

The thing that I noticed after the upgrade is the Stuffit Deluxe disappear from the Dock and the color that I had set on the view option resetted to black and white.

Hi all,
My installations was as simple a pie too... All is running fast and no issues with my CS4 or any other issues with hard drives 1.0TG from LaCie or my 23" Mac Monitor.... Im thrilled.
There is ONE little thing is the start up time.... it takes longer, well much longer for my book to boot and Im wondering if this is an issue others have had. The install too about 50 minutes and the reboot was a 5 minute wait... I made no issues knowing that this is sure a process to check the install before the reboot but I cringe when the blue screen shows up for more than a few seconds...but then again when it takes off - it runs faster than a banshee on fire...
Any thoughts on the boot up ???
Thanks
Denis

i cant say the same!!!

i have installed Snow Leopard (by a family pack) on my machine, the first one used by my son with his guitar and the second one on my laptop.
i downgraded the system used by my son on the previous leopard just because Guitar pro was not working at all (the most used software on this pc).
by the way, istat menu, on both system, was unwokable.

on my system (a macbook pro 15") i was happy to use it and i realized that OS was faster and smaller than leopard but.....
after several hours of heavy use i realized that:
- safari crash several times specially when a tried to upload picture on flickr or in photosig.com (a couple of time crashed in quiet conditions just with an open web page opened)
- iphoto crashed 4 times when i asket to add some pics on my library.

i never, and i repeat never, had a problem before.
so.. what have to say..

Just installed on my MacBook from last fall Version 4.1 and it's great. Much better speed on Safari, seems stable. Things open that I expected to have a problem with like Reunion Ver. 8 which they won't support anymore, and Quicken 2005 which I expected might have to be replaced. My printers work Even my little Dymo Label printer. They're all connected through my network through my I Mac. Installation was simple. It will boot into 64 bit by holding the 6 & 4 down on restart. I'm happy.
