itunes doesn't recognize disc burner

i'm having the same problem. i wonder if it has anything to do specifically with the iphone?

not just with the iphone..I updated to this new version yesterday and have had the same issue since on my pc...I'm about to become extremely irritated.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I tried every fix and test I can find, but nothing helps. My burner works fine with Windows Media Player. The problem is only with iTunes.

I am having the same problem without doing a iphone sinc.

I am suffering with the same problem. Not sure when it began. iTunes troubleshooting web site led me to conclude it was because installed other CD burning software and suggested a registry edit to correct. I uninstalled Nero software, and iTunes, made the registry change and then reinstalled iTunes. Still have the error, "Disc burner or software not found". Quite frustrating.

None of the troubleshooting solutions suggested by Jason L were successful. I had tried them before my first post. I can burn CDs using Windows Media.

I don't think it's relative to the iPhone, though. iTunes was working just fine for me, as far as burning CDs and things goes, until a few weeks ago, which is when I moved into my dorm at school. since then, I've been getting the "disc burner not found" message, and I really don't understand why. I do have an iPod Touch, but I hadn't been having this problem previously. help!

i have the same problem. i went to check the regedit stuff and i have the lowerfilters but i dont have the upperfilters so i dont know what to do?

I downloaded itunes version 9 and solved my problem . I do not have a iphone so i did not down load that function.

I had the same problem. I downloaded Itunes 9 and solved it. Burns cd's fine now.

i am having the same exact problem! i am becoming extremely annoyed by this... burning cd's is the only way i am able to back up my music, so i don't know what to do! nothing i have tried has worked! Apple has to find a solution to this problem...

I have this problem AFTER installing Itunes version 9. Does anyone else have the problem after upgrading? I have tried everything and cannot fix.

Same here. I couldn't burn with several of the latter verions of iTunes 8. Just upgraded to 9 and all is well again after months of frustration. I don't have Nero or anything similar. I'm on Vista, which from many prevous posts, seems to present issues all of its own (what's new!).

Hi Longtimenosea -- if you install the latest iTunes released within the past few days, I think you'll find that the problem has been fixed.

Thanks, Apple for releasing iTunes 9.0.1.8 and fixing the cd burning capability that you broke with the 9.0 release. I'm unhappy that you don't seem to acknowledge the fact that you messed it up in the first place, but thanks for fixing it in a hurry. A simple search for the terms 'burner and iTunes 9.0' will clearly show that iTunes users the world over were dismayed that by upgrading to the latest iTunes, their CD burners were useless. Wow.
