Not for me! I have the 9.0.1.8 version and still does not recognize any disc burner. It's not even recognized on the advanced preferences tab. I've been on an exhausting journey looking on help forums and other IT websites to try and find an answer and have found nothing! The only thing that seems to be clear is that this seems to be a fairly prevalent problem yet anyone who has been able to fix it seems to have a different solution. There's no universal "fix". It's crazy.
My problem has been only since I got a new computer. Some have said that there may be a conflict with windowsVista, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the itunes version that was supposed to be compatible with it. Still nothing. I don't have any other disc burning programs or drives downloaded. The one that came with my computer says it's a Super Multi-Format DVD+/-RW optical drive.
There's really not much access to customer service here, either, unless you have an Apple device. All I use is itunes on my pc.
Sooo frustrating!!!

For this issue. It is usually related to the GearASPIwdm driver. Try these steps:

1. From the Start menu, in the Start Search field, type regedit and press Enter.
2. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click Continue.
3. Click the arrow next to HKEY LOCALMACHINE to expand the tree.
4. Click the arrow next to SYSTEM.
5. Click the arrow next to CurrentControlSet.
6. Click the arrow next to Control.
7. Click the arrow next to Class.
8. Click to select the heading that begins {4D36E965- (don't click the plus sign here).
9. On the File menu, click Export.
10. In the dialog box that opens, make sure the "Selected branch" radio button is selected and save the file somewhere that you can find it.

-- Look at the space on the right portion of the regedit screen. Do you see UpperFilters here? If you DO see that, skip to step #13. Otherwise, if UpperFilters is missing, continue with step #11 to add it back. --

11. Right-click in the white empty space within the right portion of the regedit screen, click New>Multi-String Value.
12. Name this new Value "UpperFilters".
13. Right-click the new "UpperFilters" entry and select Modify.
14. In the Value Data box, type GEARAspiWDM and press Return. Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is EXTREMELY important.
15. Click OK.
16. Restart the computer.

That should fix the issue. If it does not. Then you may have to manually reinstall the driver. To do that follow this:(Taken from one of my posts)

I would suggest manually removing and installing the Gear drivers:(Taken from the Gear Drivers support site)

Select Run... in the START menu, and type in regedit
This will start up the Registry Editor.

Delete the following key from the registry:
HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GearAspiWDM

If present, delete the following key from the registry:
HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GEARSecurity

In the HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08 002BE10318} key:
remove the GEARAspiWDM entry in the UpperFilters value. Note that the entries in this value are double byte.

In the HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{6D807884-7D21-11CF-801C-08 002BE10318} key:
remove the GEARAspiWDM entry in the UpperFilters value. Note that the entries in this value are double byte.

In the HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{CE5939AE-EBDE-11D0-B181-00 00F8753EC4} key:
remove the GEARAspiWDM entry in the UpperFilters value. Note that the entries in this value are double byte.

Reboot

Delete GearAspi.dll from Windows\System32 folder

If present, delete Gearsec.exe from Windows\System32 folder

Delete GearAspiWDM.sys from Windows\System32\Drivers folder

Delete the Windows\System32\GEARAspi.dll value from the HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs registry key

Delete the Windows\System32\Gearsec.exe value from the HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs registry key

If present, delete the Windows\System32\Drivers\GearAspiWDM.sys value from the HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs registry key

Reboot

Then go here to download the drivers: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php
