Spotlight Characters: Apps display in Kanji or Chinese

Trying to find an application using Snow Leopard results in the right icon being displayed next to the name but the name is in Chinese (Or Kanji) or something like that. All other spotlight list items are in English!

Any thoughts anyone?

after changing the language settings and several restarts it hasn't changed a thing.

What are the first 5 items on your list in system prefs/language & text/languages?

Go into "Language and Text" in system prefs and make sure British English is at the top of the list on the left, followed by English. You can drag the languages within the list to re-order them.

If a reboot doesn't instantly fix the problem, try using a tool like Onyx to rebuild the Spotlight Index. It's very frustrating isn't it, but you will fix it in the end!

Roger you are amazing! It worked!!! Though it wasn't the worst think I've experienced in my life, it was rather frustrating. Now I can actually read my application names! Thank you thank you thank you 🙂
