Can't create Network with Airport

Before installing Snow Leopard I could create a network with my mac mini's airport so I could share the ethernet connection but since I installed Snow Leopard, when I try to create a Network the message "Can't create a computer to computer network" appears in the screen.

Does this happen to anyone else?
Does anyone know the way to solve it?

Thanks for the help

Just repeating what I was told by three people at Apple. I think it's outrageous, too. And I also think it's a bug that they aren't willing to admit yet. Which was the reason they all told me that Internet Sharing was no longer supported.

I'll try not to be so "helpful" next time, and will keep my conversations with Apple Support to myself. Thanks!

I have a network that doesn't announce its name. This requires that I already know its name. Under Leopard, once I set up the network, my MBP would automatically connect to my network upon waking from sleep. Under Snow Leopard this often doesn't happen - usually if the MBP wasn't put to sleep properly. Airport says that it can't find any of my preferred networks, so I have to enter all the details each time. If I put the MBP to sleep by the correct methods (which takes it 30 seconds!), when it wakes it will find my network. I've tested this by sleeping the MBP by shutting the lid. Upon waking it doesn't find the network, I then send it to sleep by the menu, and reawaken it, it then finds my network. 10.6.1 didn't fix this.

What I mean is 5.4.2 doesn't recognize three airport devices that are setting right next to it. It used to, but it quit when the ethernet communications quit. All it says is "There was an error creating your Computer-to-Computer network". Maybe that is because it is also incompatible or maybe even part of the problem. The base station works because my Tiger powered G5 PPC operates through it okay or at least it did prior to pressing the reset button.

Okay, I have at least (for now) fixed the problem. Apparently the files ( com.apple.airport.preferences.plist / Networkinterfaces.plist / preferences.plist ) located in "SystemConfiguration" folder need to be thrown into the "Trash" and you need to restart your computer.
Then goto Network in the System Preferences (under the APPLE) in the menu bar, and reconnect.

At least this works for my Intel G5 desktop. The 5.4.2 Airport utility is completely useless until you do this.

I have the exact same problem with my Mac mini (1.83GHz Intel). The network diagnostics always say it either cannot find my AirPort base station or cannot go online.

Yet I'm only 3 metres aways from the **** thing and all my other Macs are merrily on 10.6.1 with nary a problem.

It's a bummer because that Mac mini is for the kids and now chats, emails and browsing is an interminable hassle.

Using the Network Diagnostic program fixes the issue... for about 10 seconds, then we're back were we started from :-[

I tried zapping the PRAM and the internet was back... again for 10 seconds. Maybe Apple is trying to curb our use of the internet for some reason...

Deleting the preference files mentioned worked too... for 10 seconds. I'm starting to think that restarting the Mac mini itself grants me 10 seconds of internet use and everything else is just a placebo.

Does anyone, anywhere know how to fix this (save for downgrading to Leopard which annoyingly I cannot do: I've just moved house and those disks are in a box... somewhere 😟 )

I have the same problem with my Macbook since I installed 10.6. The 10.6.1 update hasn't solved the issue. I have also tried a number of suggestions from this thread without success. Can't believe Apple can't fix this. Like every other support line, Apple Support has no clue what is going on with this one. The lamest excuse was 'it is supposed to receive, not transmit'. Haha... Didn't know that Apple had WiFi working with one way radio. Apple !! Fix it.

am waiting for a bug fix too...macbook pro 2.33ghz.

love apple but very annoying considering plenty of ppl have iphones that wifi sync with their desktop...since apple doesn't allow sync through docking now no way to sync my to do manager or wireless hard drive on iphone.
