Missing Icons in Dock

SL is blazingly fast. But have two problems, one for this forum one for another.
I'm finding that some of the apps when started have missing icons. There a blue dot and if you click in the empty space the App appears. Now even my docked iTunes icon is gone. Also happens with Sys Preferences. But not all of them

Anyone else experiencing this

24" iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Try deleting this:

Your home /Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist.

Log out and in.

12/29/09 Started having this problem. Missing Terminal and Security Spy icons in Dock and app switcher (⌘+TAB). Deleting com.apple.dock.db and com.apple.dock.plist had no effect.

However, AppleCare suggested simply deleting the icon from the Dock then dragging the App back to the Dock from Applications. That worked for me.

When one newly downloaded beta app had no icon, I notified the developer. It turned out I was only person who'd reported this problem.

When a second newly downloaded released app had no icon, it was clearly time to figure out what was wrong with my fully updated 10.6.2 Mac. Google found this thread.

Deleting the com.apple.desktop.plist Preferences file, emptying the Trash, and Restarting restored the icons for both apps and a related license file. The only thing I lost was my desktop picture selection, which was easy to reset.
