Exchange contacts not showing up in Spotlight

For some reason the contacts in the Address Book that are from the Exchange server are not showing up in a Spotlight search. Other contacts that are 'On My Mac' work just fine.

I tried trashing the 'Metadata' folder but that didn't fix the problem.

Any ideas?

This is happening to me as well. Another question I am wondering is why are these programs (ical, mail, and contacts) using fetch instead of the push technology. Mail is only received at the interval specified, it is not pushed to the mail program like on the iphone.

10.6.2 still not working for me although i did notice something strange. i did a spotlight search for kind:contact and noticed that a few names did come up whose metadata files i tracked down to the following folder (/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources/5C79DA93-7B09-4DF4-90EB-6A0EF2819E2C/Metadata) where i found that 26 contacts were listed with no specific pattern.

i expected spotlight to find at least 1000 contacts since that's how much i had last time i checked so something is obviously wrong but its hard to tell what. also note that i do not have any contacts besides those on exchange. (none 'on my computer')

Same here still. 10.6.2 and contacts from exchange still not there. However - contacts created on my Macbook that have been synced TO exchange do show up (I can check this via pendolino's kind:contacts tip).

So the issue seems to be that contacts downloaded from an exchange server don't show up, whereas contacts created in 10.6.2 that are synced to the exchange server do show up. Note I am specifically talking about contacts stored on exchange, and NOT contacts that are stored "On My Mac"

great find alx99. i had not realized that only contacts that had been created or edited and THEN synced to exchange do show up and are indexed by spotlight.

i confirmed this by editing one contact that was not showing up and then saving and right after it showed up in a spotlight search where it was not before.

its a strange bug and i do confirm that i, as well, do not have any contacts 'on my mac' as all are stored on exchange and synced.

they do show up fine in the address book as far as i can tell as well as on my iphone through exchange activesync that i have had running perfectly since it was introduced last year.

Hie everyone,
I've been looking everywhere to find an answer to that problem.
I just bought a Macbook Pro, synced it with my address book on Mobileme.
As a matter of fact, Spotlight won't find any contact in the AB, except the few I entered and edited on my new computer.
Really bothering.
Is there any chance that Apple is interested in this, and will fix it soon ?
Thanks.
