XBox 360 Gamepad

I installed Snow Leopard today, but after installation, my MadCatz XBox360 game pad no longer works. I never had this problem before! I tried reinstalling the driver, but I get a message that says "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail." I unplugged the pad, then plugged it back in; the power light in the middle of the pad flashed on, but then flicked off. The system profiler lists a "MadCatz GamePad" under "Keyboard Hub," but the details below say that it has not been configured. Is there any way to get Snow Leopard to recognize this game pad, or do I have to go back to regular Leopard if I want to use it? Snow Leopard is not a necessity, so I won't cry if I don't have it on my Mac.

Thanks for any and all help!!!!!

It's good to know that its actually working now! Thanks for the feedback, not just to you, but also everybody else that provided debug information!

The commands that failed because the kernel extensions to be unloaded did not exist. These commands were intended to uninstall older installs just to be safe. You may safely ignore those errors, as well as the "cp: 360ControllerTemp/: unable to copy extended attributes to /: Is a directory" and the "rm: Archive.pax.gz: No such file or directory".

If anyone is wondering, the -n's scattered all over the place are supposed to be arguments for the "echo" command that somehow don't work even though it is documented in the man page for "echo". Also, all the script does is what the included installer would do. I don't really know why the installer can't do this itself in Snow Leopard - maybe it's an older (incompatible) version?

Thanks! It got my wireless 360 controller working again but unfortunately my 360 joysticks (MadCatz TE stick and generic 360 joystick) still aren't working. These are USB connected. The info.plist generated by the 360controller.pkg is being reported by the OS as not installed properly and I even tried editing the info.plist file myself to add the sticks but to no avail. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

Cheers IllestFlip, great stuff 🙂

I used your original script after installing wget. For some reason the md5 checksum didn't work even though that command obviously was installed. It seemed to think the result of the checksum was a command? I'm not all too familiar with shell scripts so I verified the md5 myself then removed the if block entirely. After that it worked exactly as awashkowitz's did. Thanks again!

I'm trying to get my Rockband drumkit for Xbox360 working on my mac. I've installed the latest Xbox360 Controller driver (0.08). I've plugged the Usb-cable in many times, and in different ports, but the power light on the kit just flashes for some seconds and then goes blank.
The guitar for Rockband is not working either by the way.

Anybody else having problems with Rockband controllers?

Help is highly appreciated!
