I installed Snow Leopard today, but after installation, my MadCatz XBox360 game pad no longer works. I never had this problem before! I tried reinstalling the driver, but I get a message that says "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail." I unplugged the pad, then plugged it back in; the power light in the middle of the pad flashed on, but then flicked off. The system profiler lists a "MadCatz GamePad" under "Keyboard Hub," but the details below say that it has not been configured. Is there any way to get Snow Leopard to recognize this game pad, or do I have to go back to regular Leopard if I want to use it? Snow Leopard is not a necessity, so I won't cry if I don't have it on my Mac.
Thank you IllestFlip! Even though the developer claims that v.08 & v.09 are SL compatible, I could not get them to work with a 360 Xplorer guitar for use with Frets on Fire. The guitar lights would just flash and was not recognized by the Pref Pane. Your script with the .07 driver worked just fine and I'm now able to rock out again.
Trying to get Snow leopard to recognise the mad catz portable drum kit - once it is recognised as a midi file i can then i=use it to play garageband drums!
Got the '360 controller' installed, but nothing shows up in the controller field, probably because the plist file doesn't include it.
Tried duplicating a device in the list with the right name and id but nada.
the thing lights for a second and then nothing.
In "about this mac/usb" it says
Mad Catz Portable Drum Kit:
Product ID: 0x9871
Vendor ID: 0x0738
Version: 4.10
Serial Number: 0B97EB42
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Mad Catz, Inc.
Location ID: 0xfd313000
Current Available (mA): 100
Current Required (mA): Unknown (Device has not been configured)
I went through the full Install in Terminal and it worked perfectly, but my controller is not showing up in the driver. I also tried the newer version of 360Controller but I have the same issue. The system profiler recognizes that the receiver is plugged but says it is not configured. Any recommendations? I was also wondering if the issue might be due to the fact that I bought my receiver on Ebay and it looks like a weird version, it says "Xbox 360" on it where some of the others say "Microsoft" is this version not compatible or something? Please Help!!
Here's a simpler solution for those of you that have installed the .9 tattlebogle drives but want to install the older .8 over it.
Try this to uninstall v0.09 and install 0.08 over it
1. Remove the following files from your system(installed by v0.09)
/System/Library/Extensions/360Controller.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/Wireless360Controller.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/WirelessGamingReceiver.kext
/Library/PreferencePanes/Pref360Control.prefPane
/Library/StartupItems/360ControlDaemon
2. Open Install360Controller.pkg v0.08 (right click>show package contents) and in
Install360Controller.pkg/Contents/Info.plist
and
Install360Controller.pkg/Contents/Resources/Install360Controller.info
change the following things
OverwritePermissions (change text from "no" to "yes" or from "false" to "true" depending on what word is already there by default)
AllowBackRev (change text from "no" to "yes" or from "false" to "true" depending on what word is already there by default)
Save these files. (You may need to set the R/W permission to Install360Controller.pkg/Contents folder)
3. Now run the .8 Install360Controller.pkg. The installer should give you a warning that a newer version is installed on the drive. However, you will be able to hit "continue" to install the older version. The installer will finish with an error. But don't worry. It should have installed the .8 version anyways. You can verify this by seeing if the Pref360Control panel is installed.
Bonzaimoto. Unfortunately, you have accidentally purchased a third party knockoff xbox 360 wireless receiver. The drivers probably won't recognize the receiver. An authentic microsoft wireless gaming receiver will say "microsoft" on the front, will only come in white, and should have a 3d microsoft hologram sticker on the bottom of the receiver unit. You should try finding one of these authentic ones used on ebay. Microsoft has discontinued the wireless receiver as a separate purchase. It only comes bundled with a 360 controller now. However, there are tons of knockoffs as you've seen. Sorry for the trouble you're having.
Here's a link to an authentic receiver so you can compare:
