Files I send are corrupt but open fine on my computer

I have sent multiple files. .docs, .xls, .jpeg and all arrive at the recipient corrupted. I open them fine on my computer but when I send them it says they are corrupt. What is the problem? Are my files destroyed? I have everything on this computer. It is backed up but I don't know if those are corrupt too. What should I do? Any help would be great. Happens when I use both Safari and Firefox.

MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.8), This computer is less than a month old.

Please provide details on "Send". Do you use email (attachment, or copy and paste into the email), do you use FTP, SFTP, CIFS/SMB (Windows) file sharing, AFP (Apple Filing Protocol) file sharing, iChat file transfer, etc...

Are the file sent as is, or do you ZIP them first, or put them in a Mac OS X .dmg container, or any other packaging of the files before they are sent.

The users that are receiving these files, how do they extract them? What application do they use to read the files? What version of the applciation are they using, and what version of the applciation are you using to create these files (file format between versions of an application can change and newer software can create files that older software can not read).

Please be specific on exactly how your "Send" these files, what created the files, what was its version, how the users received the files, what software they used to read the files, what versions were they using. And any other details that may help someone identify the problem.

I emailed the documents, excel files, jpegs as they are through gmail. I am on a wireless network. I do not .zip them or put them .dmg container.

I created the image file on my iPhone. And uploaded it to iPhoto then emailed the image. I also emailed older image files made on my Canon DSLR. Recipients opened the files through their Gmail accts on Mac computers. So preview did not read them.

I created the documents and excel files on the latest version of Microsoft office on my computer. I have them saved as older versions so that they could be read. I sent the same files a week ago and they were opened just fine by someone with Microsoft office on another Mac. But today when I send the files they say they are corrupted.

I have also CCed myself on each of the emails and even I can't open the files that I emailed, once I've emailed them.
