PGP with Snow Leopard ?

All,

I currently use GPGMail ( http://www.sente.ch/software/GPGMail/English.lproj/GPGMail.html) for signing and encrypting my e-mail, but from what I've read, the author has no current intention to port this to Snow Leopard.

Can anyone recommend an alternative solution for encrypting, reading encrypted messages and signing / verifying signatures with Mail.app ?

If not, could anyone recommend another mail client with the following features:
- Solid IMAP support and offline caching
- PGP / GnuPG support
- Support for random signatures
- Support for multiple mail accounts

Good point about security concerns.

Turns out that one of the current developers (lukele@sourceforge) is the original poster of the binaries in this thread and he has committed a number of revisions to the sourceforge svn repository.

It appears the source as of today is not up to the latest binary, however.

Hopefully we can see a real beta release over at sourceforge soon.

cheers, Peter

Firstly, a BIG THANK YOU to whoever created the update of the GPGMail plugin for Snow Leopard. I can now switch back to Mail from TBird.

The version that worked with 10.6.1 decrypted attachments nicely (something even the original GPGMail plugin had a hard time with). However, the new version that is compatible with 10.6.2 (Mail 4.2) no longer decrypts attachments (at least those sent with inline GPG instead of GPG/Mime, like Outlook). If the dev is reading this, is it possible to fix that? Thank you!

It's understandable that the author of the plugin would only have so much time for this, since he's doing it as a public benefit. I wonder though if he would be able to release the code (on github.com or similar) so that others could potentially take up the torch? I'd be happy to help but unfortunately I have no experience coding with cocoa.

At first I will also thank you for the great work of getting the plugin up-to-date!

I also installed the latest file from dropbox (sourceforge does not work) and all elements,
settings and so on appeared correct in Mail 4.2.

But when I try to sign or encrypt a mail, this does not work. When I press "send" a little window
pops up a short time saying "encrypting" or "signing", disappears and then another window pops
up saying that the message could not be signed/encrypted due to a password failure.

Am I doing something wrong? I think that there should appear a prompt where I can type in
my password?

I installed gnupg from macports (1.4.10) and I use the prefpane plugin and the gpg keychain access.
I also tried to run Mail in 32 and 64 bit mode, nothing changed.

I hope that someone has a hint or that the failure description may help the developers!

Greetz!

Well...

Someone made an update, put it on dropbox, and you trusted that file? I hope it doesn't mail all entered passphrases to unknown third parties.

Not that I distrust the author, but I'd suggest waiting for an official release by the Sente/Sourceforge, or do nothing.

Thank you for the information!

I reinstalled the package how it is described on github and checked
every setting how it is described on the Sen:te gpgmail homepage.

It is possible for me to send an encrypted mail, but it is not possible
to sign the mails, because the popup "Message Authentication" does
not appear and then a window comes up that says that a password failure occured.

When I receive encrypted mails the same problem occurs, password failure when
I press the "Encrypt" button.

May there be a problem with gpg on my side? I installed gpg, gpg2 from macports,
and created my key with gpg keychain access.
