Agfa ScanWise cannot find Colorsync System Profile

I have exactly the same problem with my AGFA SNAPSCAN 1212u. It worked OK in Leopard but now with Snow Leopard when I try to start ScanWise I get " ScanWise can not find the current ColorSync System Profile. Please recalibrate your monitor or select another system profile with the ColorSync Control Panel".

I have a Snapscan e42 using the same ScanWise software from Agfa. And ... having the same colorsync message.

Hope someone knows a way to fix this because I adore this scanner! Anyone knows anything about changes to the way colorsync gets addressed in 10.6?

no solution now. But: SANE did work with SnapScan 1212u up to 10.5.8, when Importing in GraphicConverter. SANE does not install with 10.6. So I'm waiting for an updated SANE.

Yeah, same problem here. Unfortunately, Snapscan 1212u is not detected as a scanner by Preview or Image Capture either ...

The SnapScan 1212 it's a masterpiece!... I wish we could solve this soon.

VueScan will work with the SnapScan 1212u

I know, but why would I want to pay a second time for a device I already own? It's like it got kidnapped and I have to pay ransom to get it working again …

yes, if nothing else will work. But until then, VueScan is way too ugly.

Read the documentations and FAQs. Not super easy, but it works...

Found the binary, installed in
firmware /usr/local/share/sane/snapscan/SnapScan 1212U_2.bin
# For USB scanners also specify bus=usb, e.g.
/dev/usb/scanner0 bus=usb

So, what did I wrong. Neither GraphicConverter nor Image Capture find the scanner.

Here's exactly what I did to get TWAIN SANE Interface to work:
--Go to TWAIN SANE Interface site: http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/
--Download the (1) libusb, (2) SANE backends, (3) SANE preference pane, (4) TWAIN SANE interface binary packages for Snow Leopard
--Grab the FAQ on that page too ( http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/faq.html)
--Install the packages in the order above just by double-clicking them
--Open the FAQ file and read it!
--Launch the Terminal, and type the following to scan: scanimage --format tiff > test.tiff
--A tiff file of your document will be scanned and stored in your Home folder

According to the page, you should be able to get your scanner to work within Word, Graphic Converter, etc., but I haven't figured that out yet. For now, I'm just happy that I can scan again. Nice to know that something like the SANE project is out there...

Something more specific than "FAQ file and read it!" would be appreciated.
There is a problem with USB. Systemprofiler knows Produkt-ID and Maker. SANE doesn't see anything.

Thanks so much, had the panic of a redundant scanner solved. Followed your instructions and the test file appeared. I then open Photoshop and selected SANE, a new interface appeared that allowed me to scan normally within Photoshop (CS3).
