How to burn .mov to dvd as is to play in any dvd player?

Hi, yesterday I created with imovie a .mov file exported it to be HD 1280x720, h.264. I want to burn it to a dvd but been googleing around and cant find any solution. With toast it wants to recode to mpeg-2...

Can someone tell me how to just burn it so i can play it in any dvd with out having to recode it again?

If all you need to to play it on another computer, then just use Finder to burn the .mov file to a disc. Home DVD players can't play .mov files, so if your intent is to play it on a home DVD player, t's going to have to be re-coded. Toast can do it. iDVD can do it (iDVD can pull the iMovie project directly).

Thanks for the info. Then what is the point of making a .mov file? I guess it will only work on mac´s. Will it still be good quality? what could be better, do it trough toast or idvd?

The point is to be able to play the file on any computer with QuickTime (Macs or Windows machines).

iMovie > iDVD > disc will be better than iMovie > .mov > Toast > disc.

Hi, now that i went to idvd after 1 hour of preparing movie...i do not want to put any menu´s, how can i do that? If now it says if i want to burn it that it takes another hour and a half to do the process.

Its killing me...

Check the Help section of iDVD, or the tutorial, or the iDVD forum.

You'd have saved yourself some time if you'd figured out ahead of time that a Quicktime movie wasn't what you needed. Encoding video takes time. Have a cup of tea and relax... 😉

Ok, just to have this clear for the next movie i make. What would be the right way to do it, just wanting to burn it to a dvd to play on dvd players?

Toast makes it easy to create an autorun DVD with no menus. What version of Toast do you have?

It is a good idea to convert QuickTime MOV video files to a DVD disc for playback on your home dvd players.But iDVD can not supports import HD video,I think you need another program to help you.
