Orange Huawei E160E Mobile Broadband Dongle - NOT WORKING NOW!

Well as you can see from the title - i've just upgraded to Snow Leopard over the weekend - and love the 16GB of harddrive space I got back, however I came you use my Orange Huawei E160E Mobile Broadband USB Modem 'Dongle' and it doesn't work.

25 mins on the phone to Orange Tech Support, and they tell me 'sorry we can't do anymore' & 'thats what you get for being on the cutting edge of technology'!!!

Apple Care told me to install Rosetta - and still NO good!

Any ideas?

MacBook 2.16ghz White (2GB RAM/500GB Harddrive) + 16GB 3GS iPhone (White), Mac OS X (10.6)

You'll probably have to wait until Orange releases a software update for SL compatibility.

I hear it's to do with Snow Leopard being 64 Bit?

Install the software on your mac - do not run it from the Orange USB dongle. Discovered this by accident - it works fine if run from mac not USB!!

Hi New to this so please bare with me.
Whilst on the phone to orange who couldn't seem to help me!! i worked out a fix for this.
First of all put your dongle in.
Right click and Show Package Contents, Contents, Resources,
then run MobileParner.mpkg

seemed to work for me

Hi

Thanks for the advice above. Initially cleaned off original app

I removed the software application from Mac HD/Applications/Orange Mobile Partner
The kernel extension located at Mac HD/System/Library/Extensions/HuaweiDataCardDriver.kext
The modem script located at Mac HD/Library/Modem Scripts/HUAWEI Mobile Connect – 3G Modem

Then dragged the Orange MobilePartner file to the HD, selected 'Show Package Contents' and followed the advice above opening the .mpkg.

Was about to try and return the dongle, but now after several tests, am sure it works

If you already installed or upgraded to 10.6:
Install or re-install 10.5.x (reformat the whole HD, I do it this way).
Install your onUSB software of the Huawei E160E.
Check if it works.
If it does:
Upgrade to Mac OS 10.6.
Start the connection application over the icon in the application folder...

and it should work.

If you still work with 10.5:
Upgrade to 10.6 and start the modem app over the application folder...

Wondering if it works on mine only...?

Hi guys

I've been following this for a while and have done an investigation for Electricpig. Take a look. Orange is working on its own connection manager. All other networks have responded.
