Copying to Network Drive Error code -36

Anyone else having any problem copying to a shared network drive on Snow Leopard?

Every time I copy to out corporate shared network drives, I get an Error -36

"The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “file name” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)"

Can anybody hep with this? It started ONLY AFTER upgrading to Snow Leopard.

MacPro 3.0 Xeon, MacBook Pro 17" C2D, MacBook Pro 15" LED C2D, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

I'm not sure if anyone have already posted this (long thread), but here's how I learned to remedy Error code -36 issues. The problem, I've found is when you copy files from non-apple formatted (HFS) devices (FAT32 windows drives, thumbdrives, smb or nsf network shares etc) into a Mac and then at some later point try to copy them back into those non-HFS devices.

It's something to do with the ._ files that get generated and then not properly restored. The solution I've found whenever an Error code -36 error appears is to open the troublesome folder (or folder containing the files) that Finder refuses to copy in a Terminal, run the command dot_clean and then try the copy again. It always works.

Not sure if all your issues have been resolved now that Apple has released an update, but Im still haveing the same issue. this time its a (error code-50)

same issues as the Error code -36. My macs are in a huge corporate enviroment, so poking around the windows servers is a big no no.

Any insight as to what this error is?

just to clear up, dragging a folder on the SMB server results in a Error -50, creating a folder and dragging the files individually seems to be ok.

I guess I will have to get in touch with Apple directly. Any help will be appreciated.

Change the colour label of the folder I am copying from? Or copying to?

I think this is a major issue, as most coperates will use windows file server, and this means mac users can't access network drive.

same problem, so frustrating, let me know if you find a solution, by any chance are u using smb to mount/connect to the network drive (mine is a win xp machine)

Can you be more specific? I am experiencing the -36 error with a mount point called "share" on a server called "500GB Time Capsule". For me, it happens with a couple of files but not most.

is strange but I can't write or read file in shared network drive but temporary file .DS_Store was normally writing by Snow Leopard on network drive.

Repair disk permissions is the Apple equivalent of take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning. It's their remedy for everything.

Repairing disk permissions is the first thing I tried a week ago. It didn't work. 10.6.1 hasn't solved the problem either.
