Snow Leopard Doesn't Recognize Canon PowerShot G10

Mine is exactly the same, worked on Leopard and works on windows, but once I upgraded to snow leopard, my G10 no longer shows up, it attempts to start camera window and Camera Windows says failed to initialize application and then closes.

Hating Snow Leopard so far, many many issues, this is just one of them!

Yeah, like it's Apples fault that Canon doesn't have 10.6 compatible software...

Try this latest update, if that doesn't work then you'll need to contact Canon and ask them when their update will be released.

You're misunderstanding the nature of the relationship here. Like a USB key, a digital camera doesn't require special software to handle basic syncs. You can plug anything from Fuji to a Canon to an Olympus into a Mac or Windows-based PC and do the minimum--transfer photos over--without installing a thing.

I doubt Canon will be releasing special drivers, because they didn't for prior iterations.

Found a workaround. I was searching for an answer as well since my 790is failed to be seen at all in snow leopard. Everything else though, and I have had no issues with 10.6.

Plug your camera in, turn it on...and use Image Capture that is in the applications folder. works like a charm.

I too tried to download and install Canon software for my camera and it doesnt even load. Just use image capture and you are good to go.

I don't use any of the Canon software for my EOS 400D, I use a
compact flash reader and finder - drag and drop.

And, if you change the default on the lower left in Image Capture (i.e., Connecting This Camera Opens) to Image Capture, it will open automatically when you connect the camera the next time

This works perfect! I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, downloading new drivers and software... phooey! The Image Capture is the way to go- thanks!

I find ImageCapture to be a terrible workaround. The Canon software, including editing on the camera, and other features were key to me buying the G10 in the first place. I'm very disappointed in this.

On 10.6.1, both iPhoto and Image Capture do not recognize the camera when connected to the machine either by the cable to the camera or the memory card in a USB memory card reader.

Any help would be appreciated. I have a pile of pictures and no way of getting them off.

Do the people that are having the problem have livescribe installed? This has a kernel driver, pulseDriver.kext.

Amazingly, (but not happily!), on my Macbook Pro it works on one USB port but not on the other (having had an iPhone connected previously on that first port). But maybe my Unmount of the iPhone screwed that port up currently (Can't reboot now).
Camera is a PowerShot SD750

I solved by reducing the number of photos ... before there were 800 photographs and G10 was not recognized and everything worked with a few photos as as with Leopard ...

Anyone experience photos but not SND files transferring off the camera via Image Capture?
